I also watched the new Matthew Perry sitcom Mr. Sunshine. The pilot was okay-ish? It's not there yet. I'm giving it a couple more weeks, mostly for Perry and Allison Janney.

Anyone else watch both of these shows and notice that the Coast Guard commander and the former partner of the cop on Castle were played by the same actor? If H-50 hadn't been on a special night, he would have been on opposite himself.

Why was there no new Top Chef? Were they worried about going up against the Celebrity Rehab Live Reunion show?

There was also no Castle because ABC was premiering "Skating with the Stars" which wasn't very good and would have been even worse without the presence of Johnny Weir and Dick Button.

Nov. 4th, 2010 10:04 pmSo Undercovers was canceled, and I'm disappointed, but more in the show than in NBC. Undercovers had no recognizable actors, had to lead off the night opposite Survivor, Next Top Model, Hell's Kitchen, and ABC's growing comedies. Also, it just wasn't that good of a show, which is the suckiest thing about it. Hopefully this won't mean "oh, no more black leads!" I don't think that had a lot to do with it—except, of course, for the fact that with fewer roles for blacks on American TV there are fewer recognizable black actors in the first place.
(Also I'm just going to watch Boardwalk Empire in a marathon, maybe over Thanksgiving weekend.)
Anyway, this week in TV, super early this time!

bhanesidhe's this weekend and finally watched the Undercovers pilot! And … it was cute! Like Castle, it reminds me of a USA show with higher production values, and Val and I talked a lot about Undercovers vs. Covert Affairs. I wonder, have the networks ceded not just super high quality shows but also middling-but-pleasant actionish shows to cable?
