Debate: Obama gave a great defense of the pro-choice position, and blew out all that negative crap Palin's been saying. Otherwise, it was kind of a snore, with McCain being really condescending and annoying.

Runway! I find I don't have a lot to say. I always watch the collections as soon as they come out. After all, they don't reflect challenges that might have kicked someone out; many's the time my favorite of the collections wasn't only not the winner, but was a decoy (Chris March, Kara Janx). spoilers! )

Top Design: Was it just boring because the show is boring this year, or because of all the activity on TV before it, or because designing the room of the future is inherently lame? Also, I'm no gear freak, but why are there never electronics in these rooms? I mean, the room of the future, I would think, would have some large screen and a whole wired thing going on, unless you're going all post apacolyptic. I miss the carpenters and being able to watch people build, which is interesting, rather than watching people shop, which is boring.
jlh: Simon Cowell, with the word "FAIL (gents: Simon fail)
Today was a day of FAIL, so thank you, Simon.

Project Runway and Top Design )

I have been reading this really fun Idol story and I don't want to spoil anyone so don't read this sentence unless you've read through chapter 19 of Renegade. I'm really done with people making Simon the villain! First, he's a doll; second, he LOVES D Cook and did the whole way through; third, it's really predictable! Do something else! Though to be fair, it isn't done, and I'm still hoping that the traitor is actually Carly and not Simon. Now I need to catch up on [livejournal.com profile] jm_cats's fic, which I thought he was posting to his journal and [livejournal.com profile] cakeforever but I was mistaken and it's like, 9 chapters in or something! But that also means more to read, which is yay.

Oh, I forgot, I totally worked out how I'm going to "watch" BSG. I started reading Jacob's recaps and as Jonathan Adler would say, j'adore! It means skipping over a little bit of the first half of season 2 because the Strega recaps are some serious ugh, but I reckon I'll read these recaps and get myself all caught up, and maybe watch a few things here or there. Everybody wins!

American Idol )

Speaking of the singers, in previous years I've found the singer-fic on [livejournal.com profile] idolslash to be mostly tiresome but I have to admit that the "Cake" (Chris/Blake) is completely adorable!

Magical Elves first. So Tom Colicchio was the guest judge on Top Design last week, but didn't do a guest blog because he's busy on the new season of Top Chef which according to Bravo will be coming "later this summer." Now, the dumb hair cutting show, Shear Genius, comes on when Top Design ends in mid-April and will run for 12 weeks or so, meaning that the new Top Chef will start sometime in July.

What does this mean for you? No Project Runway until at least the fall, is what it means. Dang! Oh Tim Gunn, how we miss you.

Meanwhile, last night on Top Design, we had an elimination. ) I also think that the problem with this show is that they haven't worked out how to edit the show so that we can understand what was going on with the challenges or really see how the room went from concept through execution to end result. I'm not sure if that's because a room is too much to take in at a glance, or what, but it's definitely an easier show to deal with when there are fewer designers.

Idol: It was the right elimination. At this rate Sanjaya will not be voted off until the top 5 or so, though I would love him to be gone by the Idol Gives Back because I cannot stand the idea of him singing some "inspirational" song and being on the same stage as Bono.

Woe, Ryan is clean shaven. Also what the fuck is Paula wearing? It's like, Sears ca. 1980. Anyone want to explain that "all of Simon Cowell" intro?

God I love the group sings. They're cracktastic! Even more so when they're MEDLEYS! Especially when they have weirdass choreography that pairs some of them up like they were the wedding party from hell. LaKisha and Sanjaya? She could break him like a twig.

AND the first weirdass Ford ad, mysteriously to Modest Mouse's "Float On" which I'm sure came up to Sligh's coolness needs. I'm not sure what the hippie slash old school rap thing was about, since the hippies were around in the 60s and that adidas look was from the early 80s, but hey, I didn't style that shit.

Speaking of styling, the girls really went crazy with the flat iron tonight, didn't they? I didn't even recognize Jordin.

Okay, is it just me, or did Miss Ross sound like ass in the verse? She looked great in that red dress. I mean, the woman is a grandmother, so you gotta give it up to her. I adore that she went over and sang with Melinda, and that she totally took over her interview with Ryan and refused to say who was going home.

Baby, baby, where did that singer go? )

In a small note, Top Design Spoiler ), so I will continue to watch Top Design in the way that I have been the past couple of weeks, which is, off the tivo, ff'd through in about ten minutes.

Harry/Draco Types: If I had an H/D story, where should I post it? It isn't a first time story, but a them-as-adults story. ([livejournal.com profile] emmagrant01, don't you have some sort of comm or something? I think [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy's is a first time one isn't it?) Why I have this story will become clear later. Thanks!

Meanwhile, some entirely premature eulogies. There are six episodes of Studio 60 and four episodes of Veronica Mars left of their seasons, and then, I think, those shows are over. Why I don't mind. )

Meanwhile, another waste is the ever-enlarging empire of the production company Magical Elves, who brought us Project Runway (love!), Top Chef (1: brilliant, 2: ugly), Top Design (yawn) and now some hair styling show. Hair styling? Seriously? I suggest forgoing this in favor of the superlative Blow Dry, starring Alan Rickman and Bill Nighy as old rivals in competitive hair styling, with Josh Hartnett and Rachel Leigh Cook as their star-crossed-lover children. As for this week's Top Design, I found I couldn't bring myself to care, though I'm not sad at all to see the end of spoiler ), but in the previews spoiler ) is crying and that is NOT on.

You know, one of the things I really don't like about LJ is that if you post on the weekends you don't get comments. Anyway, despite lack of interest, on with the television:

How I Met Your Mother: Lucky Penny )

Studio 60: The Friday Night Slaughter )

Veronica Mars: Postgame Mortem )

Top Design is no Project Runway but Todd is still delightful and Goil is still awesome.

Ugly Betty: Derailed )

CSI: Monster in the Box )
