I'm at a friend's place, sipping a beer and waiting for burgers and fireworks. I am actually wearing dark red capris, a dark blue tank top, a white short-sleeved shirt, and a necklace with little stars on it. I decided this morning that I was going to go ahead and be as patriotic as I wanna be because being patriotic isn't about agreeing with everything my government does, and I'll be damned if I'll let other people define what is patriotic. After all, what is more patriotic than working to make your country better? I'll also be damned, frankly, if I'll let them make me ashamed to be an American.
Have a Glorious Fourth!

Date: 2006-07-05 02:36 am (UTC)J and I were in the car after the movie, listening to the news and suddenly Dubya started babbling about something, so J and I immediately reached for the OFF button at the same time. "The last thing I want to do," I said, "is to listen to the President of the United States on Independence Day."
Kinda sad, that.
Having a Shuttle launch today, however, made me proud to be an American. Now THAT was some fireworks!
