In other words, we just had the primary elections for the local races in New York City (mayor, borough president, public advocate, some other things). I'm really glad this one is mostly over though a little annoyed that we'll have a run-off for the Democratic mayoral candidate. ETA: Wow, no run off, because Weiner just conceded.

Other than this, I'm still adjusting to being at school but I'm definitely loving it. HP even came up in class yesterday, which was definitely surprising.

Dude, isn't the guy running for mayor named Weiner. Heard he was a decent guy, but what an unfortunate name....

Anthony Weiner will be in the run-off with Freddy Ferrer who will probably win. Weiner is currently a congressman from Brooklyn I think and also, btw, the ex of a friend of mine. This was oh, ten or so years ago, and at the time he seemed sort of a self-involved prick, but that doesn't preclude being a good politician and I'm sure he's matured since then. He certainly knows how to get publicity, and I think he's got the endorsements of a lot of gay orgs. I may vote for him in the run-off because Freddy Ferrer sort of bugs me, but none of that matters as I'm pretty sure Bloomberg will win the general election. He may be a Republican but he still knows when to tell the governor or the president to fuck off.

Are you stuffing the box? Nutz over Chocolate. I like the chocolate-nut ones and I hate the fruity ones; I like to fool myself into thinking that the protein is from a real source.

There's this ad they keep playing for him. 'Vote for Weiner,' [people in the room giggle] '..because his mom was a teacher.' And then they play the closing subway doors bell and when this first aired -- everyone in the house just looked up and around as if they forgot where they were for a moment.

The ad is stupid and I'd go for Ferrer on tv advertisements alone.

Sadly, I'm still registered in Georgia and haven't voted in the democratic primary. I've really gotta change my license.

Anyway, how's school going? Liking it so far?

I do, thank you. Crazy transition but I think I'm finally settling in.

Yeah, you know, the DMV really sucks, but they do all their renewals by mail so after the initial visit you don't have to go down there again, at least! And I think there's one in midtown, not just near City Hall.
