Went out tonight to see a movie ([livejournal.com profile] maybethemoon, sorry, my connection went down after I got out of the shower and I was running late to meet with people but I do want to talk to you so I hope we can tomorrow) and man, I loved it! It was great and I feel all good and cheerful at a really deep level! I totally recommend it, but you have to be receptive to it, I think, to really like it, or else you will completely hate it and lose patience with it. The two people sitting next to us got up and walked out. But I give it a big thumb up!

By the way, I tried to watch Somethings Gotta Give a few nights ago and I could. not. watch. it. I think I have issues with baby boomers. God, white people older than about 50 are so white, I don't care how much Motown they listen to. I found both the Jack Nicholson and the Diane Keaton characters to be so annoying I didn't care what they did. Actually, scratch that—I found nearly every character annoying. They were all white, upper middle class, well educated, from New York or nearto it, and that's such an annoying, insular world. Even the swells in The Philadelphia Story were less snobby than this. Thumb way down.

RIP, ODB.

I agree. My friends and I have just clicked with Huckabees and I absolutely love it. Our theatre only had it for about three weeks, but despite my busy schedule, we scheduled in three screenings of it.

That is such a stupid movie, I hated it. I didn't give a crap what happened to any of the selfish, boring, colourless, self-obsessed, dreary characters. It was one of the worst movies I have ever sat through.

Huckabees or Something's Gotta Give? If the latter I totally agree.

If the former, well, I think that we saw them being self-obsessed because we were watching their therapy process and that's what therapy is, being self-obsessed. But I really loved the characters, myself, and the overall message of the movie really spoke to me, and I also thought it was really really funny. I honestly didn't think I would like it nearly as well as I did.

Okay, so I was as clear as mud there, wasn't I? Sorry! LOL.

I meant the latter. I have not even seen the former yet!

It's dreadful to sit through a movie where you honestly don't care what happens to any of the characters. It's impossible to be engaged by it. The whole thing is pointless.

Damn, I'm a white person over 40! ;-)

Mind you, I had the same opinion of that movie as you did.

Ha, I changed it to 50. As long as my siblings and most baby boomers are in that group. But yeah, I really like romantic comedies and I thought the overall theme was interesting but I felt like I was in some kind of overheated room and I really wanted to open a window.
