I like this, but I also really liked the frogs in Magnolia

Take the Purrsonality Quiz!

You know, when I took this initially, I got the Siamese. I was uncomfortable with it because it didn't really sound like me. Then everyone else was getting Siamese so I felt better and decided to post my result. But when I took it today, as you see, I didn't get Siamese. Go figure.

The Vanity Fair Proust Questionnare:

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Riding in a car with no particular destination, plenty of good music, and good friends

What is your greatest fear?
It used to be insanity. Then it was loneliness. Now I suppose it's being misunderstood.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
My fear.

What is your greatest extravagance?
My cable modem. Or living in Manhattan in the first place.

What is your favorite journey?
Honestly, the one I'm on. The life one. Trite, but true.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
Telling the truth. People who pride themselves on it too much are generally hurting others without really making anything better.

What words or phrases do you most overuse?
"Do you see what I mean?"

On what occasion do you lie?
When the other person is incapable of hearing the truth, or at least understanding it.

What do you dislike most about your appearance?
Sure, I would like to be thinner. But really, I don't like my shoulders that much.

Which living person do you most despise?
You know, hate is really a waste of time. But I suppose, anyone who is cruel to someone weaker then they are.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Overcoming crippling clinical depression.

What is your greatest regret?
Any decisions that I made that were motivated by fear or a wish for safety.

What is your current state of mind?
Creative, and only a little anxious.

If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be?
Any answer I could give would either sound self-serving and maudlin, or reveal too much. But all of that might have been okay if my mother were a stonger person, for her sake and all of ours.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
To have so many very close and very old friends; that is, a talent for sustained intimacy.

What is your favorite occupation?
Writing

What is the quality you most like in a man?
Generosity of spirit

What is the quality you most like in a woman?
Generosity of spirit

What do you value most in your friends?
Intimacy

Who are your favorite writers?
Dorothy L. Sayers, William Carlos Williams, L.M.Montgomery, JKR, Billy Wilder, and many, many more.

Who is your favorite hero of fiction?
I'm not much for the hero type, actually. Perhaps Harriet Vane?

Who are your heroes in real life?
People who act on their convictions.

What is your motto?
"The greatest work that men do comes under stress and at great personal cost."--William Carlos Williams.
Or, "Party On!"

Quiz results I am not posting:
My characters: None of the answers to the questions matched what Seamus would do. I got "girly" but I think that was by default.
Disney villain: I don't think I'm in touch with my evil side. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

Dream #1:
I was at Harvard. I saw this guy that I knew in HS and one thing led to another (as often happens) and so I took him home. In doing so, I locked out my roommate. (I think we were in Old Leverett House.) For reasons known only to my subconscious, my roommate was [livejournal.com profile] johnwalton, only he was Korean, which he isn't. John was of course very displeased to be locked out just so I could get my groove on. When I rather sheepishly went next door to invite him back in, he was talking on the phone with a hands-free headset. I have no idea what that means, except that I need to get some sex, sooner rather than later. Why John was there, though, I have no idea.

Dream #2:
I had a tall, narrow jar of some sort of small round objects in syrup. Probably cherries, but I'm not sure. I thought they were olives, but olives don't come in syrup. Anyway, each time I opened the jar, it would squeak. Finally, I opened it and left it open, and a hummingbird flew out. It was dark and coated with the sticky syrup. It flew out the window. Then, a bird of prey swooped down and grabbed it.
This, I think, was just a garden variety anxiety dream.
