I have to admit, I was surprised at the attention we paid to the post-season. I know that Ali and I are all about the Sox, and Lisse is a Cubs fan, but wow, I never knew. And while I was watching the NLCS game 6 I remember thinking, this is the kind of stuff that happens to the Red Sox, man. I mean, I know we whine about the curse, but that's exactly what the Red Sox do, year on year: they make you think they will go all the way, and then they, well, don't. And now all those Cubs fans know how we feel pretty much every third or fourth year or so.

So in light of that, and a vague need for catharsis and comfort in this city of Yankees (and I swear by all that is holy, if any of you non-Americans call me a Yankee today I will kick your arse), a poll.

[Poll #192908]

Vote early and often. And I will be following through on my vow not to watch even a second of the World Series. So there.

I'm a Cardinals fan, though the rivalrly with Chicago is just a fun thing to me, and not serious. I think if the Cubs had been playing against anyone else in the playoffs I would have been rooting for them, but I have a soft spot for the Marlins -- they won a World Series, and then got all their money pulled, and they seemed to get written off after that. So I love the idea of them coming back and winning another World Series despite all of that.

On the other hand, it would have been cool to see the Cubbies go all the way, too, since it's been so long.

I am bummed about the Sox, though. Damn Yankees.

I'm a mild fan of the Giants and A's, as I'm originally from the Bay Area. (1989 Bays-Ball, whoo hoo!) I'm also often a mild fan of whatever the local team is, or the underdog team. Not really into any professional team sports, though, so it's sort of a pseudo-fan thing.

I'm a Sox fan since the Mets/Sox series while I was away at college (in Virginia, with a Mets fan on my hall *cringe*). I don't follow them regularly, since my hopes have been dashed all too often.

But I did follow this year's, because, you know. And all I have to say is that obviously it ISN'T time for an apocalypse yet, since neither team made it to the Series.

'Cause, you know, either way, Cubbies or Sox would have beat the other team.

I'm a big Marlins fan- you know all the bandwagon-jumpers in FL everyone's talking about? Yeah, that's not me. I'm one of the few people who have stayed with the Marlins even though they've sucked these past few years. I'm SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY right now.

I like the Red Sox, though....so was sad about that. And I'm usually for the Cubs against anyone, so I was upset that the Marlins had to play them.

Oh, well. *SQUEE*

When I was four my dad took me to the Bronx (from home in Rye) to see my first Yankees game. It was 1975.

He made me promise before we went into the stadium that I'd never route for another baseball team.

I got to shake Reggie Jacksons's hand that same night.

I have to confess I was hoping for Yankees/Cubs.
