Maine #3, and Massachusetts
Jul. 7th, 2002 12:29 pmWell, the weekend is near its end. C____ came to the house yesterday and had lunch with my parents and me. Dad got him to take piles of old LPs and 78s that he had bought at an auction. Then hung out in Portland for a while before going down to Boston.
Always very odd to be back in Cambridge. Ghosts. We ate dinner across the street from my old college house--I could see the summer school kids hanging out in the common room.
Today, back to NYC.
Sorry to see about the CR's at FAP; the end of an era. I definitely think it's the right thing to do, maybe should have been done a while ago though I can understand trying to make it work on FAP before giving it up. I'm sure we'd all rather preserve the HP and writing-focused boards before everything else. With all those people around, something had to give.

Date: 2002-07-07 10:58 am (UTC)It's for the best. I'm rather sick of it now. Too many people, not fun anymore. You're completely right, something had to give. So RIP, CR. God bless, and good luck.

Date: 2002-07-07 06:58 pm (UTC)I was in the cab coming uptown from Penn Station (having my usual coming-home thought of "New York sucks, why do I live here/New York is fab, why do I ever leave?") when I saw, hanging over a building opposite the Port Authority Bus Station, a banner that was so coated with grime that what was once probably white was now not even grey, but nearly black. I mean, what are they thinking? Only in New York, indeed. Ew.

Date: 2002-07-08 04:56 am (UTC)Welcome! I hope you don't look like Reese Witherspoon; I don't think that sharp little chin works on a man, really.
And at least Bally has a sex life, unlike poor ickle me.
Betrothing yourself to someone who isn't fucking you strikes me as a little self-defeating. Have you read "Women Who Love Too Much"?
I don't think anyone would ever doubt that Bally has a sex life, whether she posts about it or not.
