First, you need to find the two guys who are friends, and one is more the leader than the other. However, they should not have that "Leader/ultra-cool friend who isn't a follower" dynamic of Frankie and Dino or Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday or Butch and Sundance. They must have a proper Leader/First Lt. vibe. They also should have established relationships with women; don't worry, you can write around that. Okay, got your fellas? Let's go!

  • Present tense story from submissive friend's pov

  • Dominant friend suddenly wants to fuck and orchestrates it

  • Sub secretly loves Dom, so he goes along, likes it, wants more

  • Dom always ends it before Sub wants it to end

  • Sub is actually in love

  • Dom either just messing about or experimenting or having fun before he marries the right girl or fulfills some other family obligation

  • Tense parting where nothing is said

  • Sub fucks his girl thinking of Dom

  • Months later, Sub hears from or runs into Dom

  • Sub still with his girl, Dom still with his girl

  • Dom reveals, in subtle code that only the two of them can understand, that he loves sub just as much as sub loves dom

  • This ambiguous line should be the last line of the fic

  • Angst, but perfect love because it never actually becomes a relationship

  • fin.

How great is THAT? Everybody wants a lover like that!

Thanks to CC, who made me post this.

So, uh, do you think this will work for original fiction too? ;)

Why would you want to do THAT? *snicker*

Hehe, "Dom" has me thinking LotR RPS, and now I have a sudden urge to seek out those LJ communities I followed last winter...

But . . . do they not also save the world?

That's optional. The saving the world stuff limits your fandom possibilities.

Wow, you're right! Yes, indeed, saving the world is quite short-sighted. ;) *glomps*

I'm trying to figure out whether this is funny or insulting. Possibly both.

It is only insulting if you write the same story as everyone else, and over and over again, and if you do that you deserve what you get anyway.

Which, of course, means not you.

Don't we all essentially write the same story over and over again? I mean, to some extent everything can be reduced to basic patterns. And part of me wants to ask this is wrong.
