Also exciting: offers to do podfic! There are lots of offers to do AIRPS, or AI8RPS fanfic. Would it be wrong for me to bid on those and have them do Ryan/Simon? None of them have any ship restrictions …

haha, AI fandom, how you've broken and shamed me. (I am also 1000% convinced that I will get no art for my rpf_big_bang fic. I'm just writing it anyway.)

It isn't; it's really "Adam Lambert and whoever he feels like fucking at the moment, including members of his band; Kris/Katy, and then Allison/Orianthe." There's like, at least five spin off coms from _ai, one devoted to the Kradam tinhats and one to the people who are fans of Tommy, this guy in his band, and ship him with Adam. It's insane because they are OMG WANKY and OMG constantly fighting with each other, hence all the spinoffs.

Plus the Cookleta people are still floating around, though I think the Cook fans have floated off into their own little fandom of shipping the members of his band (though not with him). Some of the Cook fans are still in the main _ai fandom though the Adam fans think they're all jealous of Adam. (Though I find that the Adam fans think that everyone, everywhere, ever, is a butthurt someone-else fan who's jealous that Adam gets all the attention and has all the success, or something?)

NGL, I quit ontd_ai after about two months. See, I made the mistake of thinking that it was an ONTD community about AI, which was right up my alley, instead of a fandom-ONTD-capslock hybrid community about Adam Lambert. I don't know how I got such a wildly off-base impression! I'm so silly.

Really, I don't care how many communities and how much wank and how much tinhatting* etc. etc., I have no interest at all, I just wish people would stop using "American Idol" as a synonym for the runner-up from two years ago. Just call it "Adam Lambert fandom." It's not hard.

*Although I would like to understand Kradam tinhatting, actually, because I'm curious, and as far as I've been able to tell, it's based on one picture of Kris with a limp wrist and the fact that it would OMGSOHAWT. There has to be something I'm missing.

We are spoiled, Ig, is really the answer to that. So much tinhatting is based on people getting along during press junkets and possibly being friendly off set, sometimes even being roommates (see J2). I was never a tinhatter so I don't really get that from the Kradam people.

Oh, and the whole everyone is jealous of Adam definitely extends to Ryan and Simon, who were mostly called "gross closet cases" when someone actually made a secret about them over at the AI secrets comm a couple of weeks ago. Some anon was like, "are you the person who said you work at E!, lol" and I was like, "you do know that there is more than one person in the universe who ships them, right?" Dumbasses.

I stopped paying attention to _ai at some point in the fall, because it was spammy and annoying. I'd only really joined because it was the only place that wasn't "Adam totally lost because homophobia" which pissed me off, but I'm not really great at ontd culture.

As for the capslockyness, I find that all the fandomish spinoffs of ONTD are capslocky. _startrek and _skating certainly are.

However this:
