We both found what we were looking for …

If I don't do this in sort-of chronological order, things will get out of hand. I'm only cutting the actual results—they did one in the middle and one at the end, but I'll talk about them both at the end of the post.

• I love me some group songs, as you all know, and this one was pretty good though I thought Kris would do better with choreography, and the little Danny dance was unnecessary. I'm not surprised that they found a way to get Scott around the stage, but I am surprised that they actually went there. Ford ad was kinda lame, though.
  
• I like that the new rule is very specific to Idol, rather than borrowed from someplace else, and is really limited. As Simon said, it really isn't invalidating the vote, since we don't actually vote someone off, but vote for our favorites. Given that they can only use it once per season, I don't think anyone thought a singer would be saved tonight. The one thing that isn't great: instead of the singout being wistful and sort of teary, it's sing-for-your-life. (Which cannot compare to the lipsync-for-your-life on RuPaul's Drag Race, but then, what could?)
  
• I love that the singout this season is Carrie's cover of a Motley Crüe song; the original is one of my favorite "the road is really hard for a music man like me" videos:

• Kanye was Kanye but what I want to know is, when did they tape this? Why are there fangirls at the judge's desk? I didn't even think Ryan was there until the end. What the hell was that backup singer wearing? Why did one of the singers sound like my phone vibrating?
  
• I'm excited that they're going to have an Idol alum on every week, too. Kelly was completely adorable wasn't she? I'm not sure who was dressing her, though, because her clothes didn't suit her at all. She has such a cute figure, but she was dressed like she has curves, which she doesn't, so it just made her look dumpy. She sounded great, though, and I'm glad she sang live.
  
• So I'm watching Ryan talking about how he played "My Life Would Suck Without You" three times on the radio and sang along, and I'm thinking, "yeah, Ryan, we all know why you love that song" and then he said it, that he had a relationship like that, and he smiled at Simon and Simon winked and seriously, I have no idea what to do with them anymore.

This is when we miss Nigel: the elimination fakeouts. Sure, Anoop and Megan were on the bubble, but did anyone think for one second that Kris or Lil weren't safe? I liked Jasmine a lot, but she was definitely forgettable in this crowd. Ryan was really adorable consoling her, though. Jorge's performance was a snore—everyone had it spot on about him. Simon was sort of a jerk with his "no" but then that's Simon all over; at least he said "sorry."

The Kelly segment was my favorite, what with her being adorable topped off with Ryan getting so caught up in his fanboying and giving us that. Hee!

These oustings were fine with me. I think Jasmine has potential but work to do, and Jorge didn't get it done.

First of all the Ryan/Kelly interaction was awesome from the get-go with him actually singing the title and trying to get to Kelly's register, ha. Then he actually comes out and SAYS what we're all thinking and I definitely flipped. As if that wasn't enough, the *wink*! You'd think Simon would have the decency to look offended but he just can't anymore. (You've made a tinhat out of me, darling, and I promised myself I would never tinhat again!)

My son was watching but I wasn't paying that close attention so I had to go dig up the clip on youtube. LOL Seriously, they're not even trying to hide it anymore.
