I'm not recapping this whole thing mostly because we're not voting tonight anyway. But I have to say, I'm not entirely dissatisfied with this year's finalists. I was sad that some people I liked weren't brought back for the wild card, but of those who were, I couldn't be happier with who was put through. I'm glad that Tatiana won't be staying, and I admit that I never liked Von much anyway. I like Megan's quirkiness (and I'm glad Simon does too) and was really excited that she came back. I adore Jasmine because she's so cute and she got even cuter tonight somehow, in addition to nailing a really tough song. Matt I thought was very competent (though hat and scarf was a bit much). And when they announced Anoop as lucky number thirteen ali_wildgooseand I screamed our heads off.

I don't know that I'm really shocked by the results. There are people I liked who didn't make it in, like Nick/Norman, or Ju'not, but no one got cut that I thought for sure would make it. We all knew Widower Guy and Blind Guy and Oil Worker Guy and Emo Guy would make it in if they didn't fuck it up, which they didn't. Lil is talent by the ton and will just get up and be a pro every night; Mindy Doo Part Two. Kris is very cute, but also quite good, and I liked him with his guitar in Hollywood. Jasmine survived being in a group with fucking Bikini Girl, and deserved that hug from Allison, who is also young and adorable. Alexis has a great voice, and I look forward to seeing what she'll do with it. Jorge I sort of don't care about, but he doesn't bother me. And then there's Anoop, who I adore like an adoring thing.

There's actually no one in the top 13 that I already hate. I just went back through my posts on seasons 3, 5, 6 and 7, and by now in season 3 I hated John, season 5 Kevin, season 6 Haley and Sanjaya, season 7 Katie Lee, all of whom well overstayed their welcome. We don't have the openly annoying but mysteriously loved VFTW bait. We don't have the leggy girl who doesn't actually sing that well. We actually have thirteen people I will look forward to seeing on my TV. That's a first!

You know, I'm actually kind of hoping Jorge will sing something in Spanish, eventually, provided such a thing is possible. It would be an interesting change of pace!

But whatever, loads of rad people made it in and as long as they make it to the eight or so I'll be happy!

I am not a fan of Jasmine and would have preferred Jesse, but I'll agree that she didn't blow them away quite enough to make it in.

I'm disappointed Ju'not didn't make it because I thought he had a good voice AND he's from my hometown!

I kind of wondered if they brought Tatiana back just to watch her reaction when they told her no again.
