So the reason you don't have an Idol results recap yet is that I watched it this morning off the TIVO. Last night I was at Irving Plaza seeing Crowded House with
heidi8!
The show opened with Neil just wandering out onto the stage to say that someone had sent him a link to a concert by the chorus at PS22, here in NY, where they sang Private Universe. So the kids came out on stage and sang three songs, and then two songs with the band, and nothing has ever been so adorable. The crowd screamed and cheered for the kids, who were really enthusiastic and clearly adored their choir master, a young man in mermaid braids—lots of boys in that chorus, btw.
What was fun about seeing them now vs. the last concert in the early summer was the new music. They were trying out tons of new songs—I think we heard four or five?—that might be on the next record, which made me excited for that. Two of them need more work but show promise, and three of them were excellent right now. There were plenty of old favorites, and lots of singing from the crowd as always at CH shows, and a few more obscure faves.
I wish the show hadn't started so late—door at 8, uninteresting opening act at 9, CH didn't start until 10, we left a little after midnight. But we did get a great poster which I'm totally framing for my wall.
