You paid attention during 97% of high school!

85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! Good show, old chap!

I can't believe that Dan Patrick is leaving ESPN. I'm full of woe. I know he'll end up someplace awesome (I'm sad that HBO is full up on sports shows as he could really shine there) and I look forward to what he'll create when given free reign. Still, having to do without The Big Show for an unknown period of time, especially as Keith heads back into sports with his co-hosting of NBC's Sunday night NFL show this fall, makes me so sad! I was starting to get used to actually knowing what was happening in the world of sports! What will I do now?

So this is the thing about that: I don't actually understand football. We didn't have a team at my high school and at the Ivies, not unlike my high school or the University of Maine for that matter, the only real sport is hockey, so to me it just looks like a lot of people going on and off a field. I mean, I get the basics, the downs and the offense and defense and sort of the special teams and when you need to just punt because you aren't going to get there passing or running, but why anyone does anything that they do I admit I have no ability to understand. Now, if you want to take that on, then I'll accept your awesome invitation.

A few months ago my friend Carrie posted asking about a deeper understanding of the grand strategies of hockey—she was looking for something football-esque—and we were all like, um, there isn't one, because nothing is like football.

If you want that, you should play one of the more recent football video games. They'll give you an understanding of the tactics and strategy that is really pretty good. I don't have it, and I know I don't understand most of what I'm watching, but I enjoy it anyway. Maybe Keith's commentary will help.

Barring that, do you know anyone who played football in high school or college? They're the only other people likely to know what's going on.

Hello. I'm here by way of the Dean/Seamus ship manifesto, because I wanted to read your fic Eight Ways from Sunday, but none of the links to Schnoogle seem to be working. Do you have the story posted anywhere else?

Yeah, FA had a major hard drive crash just the other day, and while everything should be up really soon, it isn't up now. I had had my fic at a couple of other places, but they've both since gone down—including, unfortunately for that manifesto, the Dean/Seamus archive though I hope that it can be put someplace else at some point. Anyway, I guess all I can do right now is ask for your patience and that you can wait a week and try again? I'm really sorry about that—FA has literally never gone down and since it's such an old story I wasn't going to post it on LJ until I was ready to start posting the sequel.

Thanks, and again, I'm so sorry for all this inconvenience. I will have to go into that manifesto and figure out what to do about all those links at some point.
