Fun!

It started Thursday afternoon when, after the library and some lunch at home, I met [livejournal.com profile] calloocallay for tea at City Bakery. It's really fun that we're at the same school as all that jargon, blah blah blah. So that's pretty excellent.

Then I realized that I was in S's new neighborhood—she moved at the end of September—so I gave her a call and was in luck, as she was nearby running errands. I got to see her father, briefly (always a pleasure) and then we went back to her place and I hung out and had more tea with her, her husband and her little boy, who's about 16 months old. It had been about a month, what with her move and TWH and then I had a cold I didn't want to give to her, but I saw her just in time as she was pretty sure she's going to have her baby this weekend. Left her place around 6pm

I came home to find that holy shit, I had left the oven on at 400º for almost five hours. Luckily it was totally empty; I'd used it to thaw a parbaked roll for lunch and thought it was off but oops. However, nothing was burned down so it was all good.

Friday was just a politics watch, waiting for them indictments, about which I find I have nothing to say except that I have a vague crush on Fitzgerald. And then I got a text from S saying that she had the baby at 3am—that is, 9 hours after I left her house! Speedy!

I have the hardest time remembering to turn off the oven! I often forget, and find myself wondering, hours later, why it's so warm in the house.

Congrats to your friend S for her new baby ♥

Nine hours after you left her house? And she wasn't in labor when you were there? o_O

*is impressed*

She totally wasn't. She was like, vaguely uncomfortable but no more than most women in their 39th week. She and her son walked downstairs with me so they could get the mail; she'd been running errands the early afternoon and was about to start dinner. So I think it just went pretty quickly. Second child and all, so there's that, though I honestly can't remember how long her first labor was. I don't think it was too terribly long though.

I am endlessly amused at your tag of "s____". :)) *cuddles*

I also have tags of D__, P____, and C____, but I talk about them more because I have to travel to see them.

So, I have to ask, why the spaces? I mean, I get why each has the NUMBER of spaces it does, but was there a reason you didn't just do "s", "d", "p", "c"? Is there a tech restriction or does it just work better for you this way?

I think it scans better. When I was first posting about people I would write it that way and then I got lazy. But for the tag, I like having the spaces so it looks like a word and stands out a bit. It's also very 19th century.

Yikes. That was lucky.

And you obviously sent your friend S into labor.

And I totally &hearts Fitzgerald. OH YEAH.
