Katrina, and writing.

And on that topic. I know some of you have posted expressing dismay about the looters, and I think you all should read
angiej's post with her thoughts on the subject. You may not agree, but it's provocative and I think it deserves to be heard, as does the post she links to which says things incredibly eloquently.
Paradoxically it's the complacent writer—who thinks that everything's fine and that he's a master, that everything he does is beautiful—that's the writer in trouble. The one who's self-doubting and tormented, never satisfied with what he's doing, that would be happy for five minutes after the book is completed and then tormented ever after because it wasn't the book he wanted—that's the writer you trust, that's the writer who'll do something good.
