catching up

Okay, so I didn't mean to go so long without posting, although I will say that I've been here, reading and things, so it's not like it was some big LJ break. However, I was working a lot, and riding a wave of school-based anxiety, and things like that.

Over the last ten days I had dinner with friends like the visiting D, emsariel, ali_wildgoose (though sadly not bhanesidhe), and cassandraclaire; I watched the first episode of Six Feet Under with bowdlerized; I packed ali_wildgoose's kitchen. C came to stay last weekend, during which we ran about and did that thing we do, which included going with D to the reopened MoMA, which is massive, my friends. You used to be able to do it in one day, but oho, no longer. The galleries are amazing, and the permanent collection of MoMA so extensive that it's like being at the Lourve or D'Orsay—"I know that one!" keeps going through your head. I highly recommend.

Also, there were piles and piles and piles of Gil/Nick slash to be read, hence the new icon I made today. Very geek love. Speaking of icons, I also got one o' them there permanent accounts as a back to school present for myself, along with some art I purchased from seviet that arrived the other day.

Oh, and it's fucking hot. I hate summer.

awww, sweetie! well, are you around next weekend at all? my during the week sucks the next two weeks unless you want to six feet under on Monday. but after the 23rd or so work will calm down a fuckload.

It sounds like the wave of anxiety has crested and crashed, and I do hope that's the case. >:D<

I had a long long think about words and ultimately, I decided against them. I think I'm just all about the image. I even wrote some and put them on and I was futzing with the font and I was like, you know, no.

I am, like, the laziest word-oriented person in the world. I have been thinking about this lately and I know intellectually that images have this power to communicate so much that words can't but I just can't let the images stand on their own. I have this lame need to caption, like, EVERYTHING. I'm trying to get away from that but it's such a crutch. And the worst part is that it's not like I'm a talented wordsmith - I SUCK at the captioning part.

Try uploading the bare image and sleeping on it, and if you still want to caption it the next day, go right ahead and do it. I just feel like my words, they are lame. Also I can never decide on a font.

I need more fonts. I lurve them.

This is not a bad idea. I'm usually in a hurry to finish them up b/c if I put them aside to come back to them I'll never get them done - remember that I was the woman cleaning out cardboard boxes of just crap from last summer that I put aside to get to later. I really need to restructure my time, but I'm already halfway through Summer I and it's not worth all the hassle just for two organized weeks.

Off to Nasa today. O is freaking vibrating with anticipation.
