I wasn't disappointed by anything, but that might be because I didn't have very high expectations. The ratings this year are going to be quite low because none of the really popular films of the year were nominated, and that always controls things.

  • Chris Rock is the funniest man in America, possibly the known universe
  • I'm really happy that Sideways and Eternal Sunshine won the screenplay awards.
  • I'm a little sad that Aviator didn't win best picture, but I think that was a tossup.
  • I predict that Marty will never win. A tablemate at my Oscar party pointed out that Marty has never won the Director's Guild Award, which means his fellow directors really see him as an outsider, so I just don't see him ever rallying people behind him.
  • Hilary Swank is talented, but she is not two time Oscar winner talented.
  • TMI, Jamie. I don't care if you won. T—M—I.
  • Cate Blanchett was the only win I didn't vaguely expect, and I was happy about that one.
  • How classy is Morgan Freeman? So classy!
  • YEAH the Incredibles
  • What was with those awards where they either were given out in the audience or they were all on the stage? Nothing says B level like walking two feet to get your award.
  • Wow, all the songs sucked except the one that won.
    • Especially the three songs that Beyoncé sang. What was up with that? All those costume and full on makeup changes, you'd think it was a Beyoncé concert.
    • Adam Duritz looked like Sideshow Bob. Grow the fuck up, man.
    • Antonio, on the other hand, looked H—O—T HOT and sounded good as well, as did Carlos Santana.
  • What the fuck was Sean Combs doing there?
  • Wow, Julia!
  • Gwynneth hasn't lost all of the baby weight and it looks good on her.
  • Loved the Johnny montage
  • Hated the opening montage; it was totally boring.
  • I didn't see enough pre-show to have a lot to say about dresses, except that Hilary was a big no and Charlize was a big yes.

What did you think?

I thought the Jamie speech was sweet, no?

It was for the most part. I just didn't need to hear about the corporal punishment. He could have talked about her just fine without it—and did, at both the SAGs and the Golden Globes.

Agreed regarding Hilary, Jamie, and Beyonce. Sheesh.

My happiest moment was Eternal Sunshine's win, and Kate Winslet's dress owned me. Other than that, a very lackluster night.

Kate has looked gorgeous at all the events this season.

I am annoyed I missed the Independent Spirit Awards last night, and am hoping that IFC will rebroadcast them, as Sideways swept and I want to see Paul Giamatti's acceptance speech.

Re Hilary Swank, I totally agree. Particularly when Annette Bening was one of the contenders.

Annette Bening was robbed, yo.

Oh, and I forgot to comment when you said, but I'm so glad you liked the yoga pants!
