Reasons to be cheerful
Sep. 21st, 2004 08:58 am1. It's autumn!
2. Josh got up on his high horse and is being all stirring and inspirational and shit and you should go read it and then fangirl him until he passes out from the shock.
3.
evil_erato is right again, so I'm quoting her again:
I find it incredibly appropriate that we had this big political discussion on Hermione's birthday, don't you? I also find it comforting that so many folks are passionate about politics, even if they disagree with me. The real enemy of democracy is apathy.
So, what's up?

If you're going to have an opinion and speak it aloud, expect a response. Expect positive responses. Expect negative responses. Expect to have to explain your opinion. Expect to have to defend your opinion. Expect every response that a human being is capable of, becuase I guarantee that if you keep voicing your opinion long enough you'll come across every response that a human is capable of. That's what being allowed to voice an opinion is all about.

Date: 2004-09-21 06:44 am (UTC)So true. I'm hardly what anyone would call an activist, but I know what I believe in, and I am not afraid to say it. I will tell anyone that asks me and I will most certainly vote to reflect that. I don't expect everyone to agree with me. Or to positively respond to what I am saying. I don't feel the way I feel to get pats on the back from anyone.
So, what's up?
HA! Hell of a morning. About to post about it. Cause misery loves company. <3

Date: 2004-09-21 10:45 am (UTC)As for what's up - Owen had his first t-ball game last night, and I missed it because I was teaching. I called while they were in the car on the way home and he sang me "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" and told me he was a baseball star and that everyone was cheering for him. And I will miss EVERY ONE until mid-October because of they way they're scheduled. He seems to be fine with it, but I'm disappointed; there's nothing quite so fantastic as seeing someone you love excited, and I'm missing it.
And we have a new nephew named John Thomas. *winces* And they actually CALL him John Thomas.

Date: 2004-09-21 12:45 pm (UTC)You know, I've found that folks go through a phase of calling a newborn by its first and middle names and then most of the time the middle name fades away. So I have hope. And hey, maybe at least he'll end up being JT, which really isn't so bad.
