West Side Story opened on Broadway 50 years ago and there was a special on NPR tonight in its honor. Which of course reminded me of a thread back in the day on [livejournal.com profile] nocturne_alley when [livejournal.com profile] seamus_f and [livejournal.com profile] turpinol (RIP) cast West Side Story using their classmates. Enjoy.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sistermagpie, I saw Alan Tudyk in Prelude to a Kiss last night. He was quite good, though I'm not the hugest fan of this play. His character, Peter, spends most of it being frustrated, and that just makes me frustrated. However, he spent nearly the entire first act and some of the second sans shirt. I'm very sure that in preparation for spending most of the night topless he's worked out like a mofo, because he had a six pack and shoulders you wouldn't think were under those clothes. No ass, though.

Ugly Betty was excellent, wasn't it? )

CSI was sort of ridiculous. I wonder what the whole playing up Hodges thing is about.

So.

Pinter.

Fancy that.

In other news, paper is finally done and sent. Also I may have finally delurked in CSI which means I'll should start reviewing now like a good girl.

So I saw Rent for the third time, and the first time since 1997. I saw it once with the original cast in 1996, rather early in the run, and then once with most of the original cast except Mimi and maybe Benny and Maureen though I can't remember. I've never seen it with any of the famous types in it, though I had forgotten that of course none of those pop stars could play Roger—Roger plays the guitar on stage.

It was [livejournal.com profile] folk's idea to see it, since he'd never seen it on stage and the movie is coming out. I have to admit, I was mostly going along at first since I have seen it a few times, but I'm so glad that I did see it again before the film comes out, so now it's all fresh in my head and shit.

Does it hold up? you ask. Boy, howdy.

Beyond this cut, something so spoilerific that you'd just better not click on it if you don't want to know every damn thing that happens in Rent, and if you don't already know it won't make much sense anyway, so do us both a favor, yeah? )

Dear reader, I want to write Tom/Mark. Post-play of course. I'm feeling this is not really slash, is it? Well, maybe kind of. Still. I am also having thoughts of Seamus and Dean dressing up as Angel and Collins at some costume party, which amuses me no end.
