Put another nickel in . . .
Jul. 25th, 2002 07:32 amI just poached this from
jediginny. ::pulls self up to full height of not much and change:: Everyone in the sound of my voice must take this quiz!
+ remind you of an ex-friend: "Wolves, Lower" by REM
+ makes you cry: "Elegy for Strings" by Elgar. It is sad, but also because it was played a lot here in NYC after Sept 11.
+ make you laugh: "The Twelve Days of Christmas" by the Mackenzie Brothers
+ make you wanna dance: "Pass the Courvoisier" by Busta Rhymes, or "Can't get you out of my head" by Kylie
+ you wish you wrote: Anything by Fiona Apple or Neil Finn
+ you never want to hear again: "You Light Up My Life" by Debby Boone. You think "I Will Always Love You" was overplayed? At least it was a good song to begin with.
+ want to get married to: "Let's Face the Music and Dance" And "Simple Gifts" for the procession.
+ make you want to mosh/bang your head: "Toxicity" by System of a Down. Gotta love klezmer thrash.
+ sums up your teenage years: "Lonely in Your Nightmare" by Duran Duran, not so much because my teen years sucked, but because I was such a Duranie. My then-friend and I wrote Duran slash, though we had no idea what we were doing. Mmm, that Roger Taylor. Set me up for a lifetime of crushes on drummers, and love for short dark-haired men.
+ you like to wake up to: Not really music. The sounds of the city. Or Scott Simon's voice, because that means it's Saturday. ^_^
+ you like out of your parents collection: Glenn Miller. Really, all that swing stuff.
+ you love that you wouldn't know about if it wasn't for a friend: My best friend is a musician who has generally been a step ahead of me in music for the last 15 years, though he was more influential when we were in high school. Most of these bands later became famous, but they certainly weren't the first time I heard them through him. So a short list would include The Smiths, The Cure, The White Stripes, etc. etc. etc. Oh, and I have another very good friend who is a jazz freak, so I suppose I should add Coltrane and Horace Silver to that list.
+ you love the video more than the tune: "Shadows of the Night" by Pat Benetar. Awesome. She's a WWII ace pilot and she and her buddies blow up a house that has a bunch of Nazis in it and she has a perfect 40s look and the whole thing is so silly and has nothing to do with the song.
+ reminds you of your first crush: "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell. ah, junior high . . .
+ you love which is from your favorite movie: "Laura" from the film Laura, a great 40s noir and where my Gene Tierney icon is from. Isn't she gorgeous? Rowr.
+ makes you think of the moon: "Deathly" by Aimee Mann, because it reminds me of Remus.
+ make you think of stars: "Under the Milky Way" by
+ makes you think of the sun: "Midnight Sun" by Ella Fitzgerald
+ make you think of sex: "Into Temptation" by Crowded House or any number of Prince songs
+ you love to hear at clubs: Madonna remixes
