X-Men. Neo.

eccentricfemme. Behold the e!vil pink ladies! (For those not in the know, that's Femme,
lunasparrow,

I have to say, I didn't really like X-Men all that much, because the villain was really annoying. Cartoonish, for lack of a better word. He was SO slimy, SO evil, that I really didn't care much about what he was up to at all. That said, I loved the ensemble cast; I have a weakness for them. They set up a lot of characters but gave them plenty to do. I particularly liked how they all had their own agendas during the climactic dam sequence.
The Matrix, OTOH, I loved loved. As CC said, it was pretty much about love, and I'm a sucker for that sort of thing. It was also cool to see more of the universe, at least that of the machines and how that all worked. I also liked the twist, that the Oracle wasn't who they thought she was, and that perhaps the end result isn't about the end of the Matrix, or machines. Makes me really anticipate the third film, because it will hold many surprises as opposed to just being an end game.
Zion wasn't set up very well, though. I should have been anticipating getting there, but I really didn't care about it all that much. And what was with that rave? However, there were many many beautiful black people. Kudos to The Matrix for all that multiracial casting.
The action sequences kicked some serious ass, of course. Neo's frock coat was the best! The schoolyard fight was dazzling—these old eyes couldn't even keep up with all of it. The fight in the mansion was also excellent, I think because there were all those medieval weapons which made it cooler. But my favorite was the long sequence on the 101 freeway. I love chase scenes, but this was chase and fight and a million other things. I really loved that they gave Morpheus and Trinity their own moments in the sun, like Morpheus on top of that tractor trailer. Excellent. And amazing since the fight scenes were really long but never felt too long.
I have a big crush on the Asian guy with the goatee from Jada's ship. Yum. Keanu, of course, is just beautiful. *sigh*
