I was really happy yesterday, sort of filled with positivity, but as usual it all went to hell in a handbasket with one small thing. I was going to do an entry about how horrid I feel at the moment, but as I was making a new friends group of who I wanted to see me bitching I realized it was sort of no one and there was simply no point, so instead, quizzes. Consider yourselves lucky.

Which Rock Chick Are You?

Sadly, I have no idea who this is, which I really hate to admit. Someone give me some guidance? MP3s? Which CD should I buy?

Sounds like me. On my better days. Of which this is not one. And I'm really sorry about that. :(

Completely OT...

You know, I was thinking about EWFS while I was doing some really boring data entry and it occured to me that I haven't read anything that fresh (in terms of style) in any of the best seller type novels that have come out in the last few years (not that I've read them all but you know what I mean).

I think EWFS was appealing because it described how modern society should be without compromising on reality at all. It gave people a fresh perspective and a new way to look at modern society and perhaps it pointed the way a bit too which was particularly good for the younger kids reading it. It possibly showed them (and us older folks) a new and positive way to think about people and relationships.

I always said it was original and hip (and it is, of course) but on reflection I think the appeal of it goes deeper than that.

I was thinking that if you were to write an 'original' novel (by that I mean outside any fandom with new characters, etc) along the same lines with the same style and approach, I reckon it would be bloody successful in today's market. I don't say that lightly because I think the market is hungry for something truly fresh and new, and there is little out there in terms of fan fic that is anything much more than clever smut (and there's nuthin' wrong with that but it's been done to death and there is already plenty of it out there anyway).

I really think you did something completely new with EWFS and it would be a pity just to leave it in the fandom. I think an 'original' novel of similar style would be very marketable. Have you ever considered it?
