dragon*con and a poll about squee!

So I'm ... going to Dragon*Con?

Yeah, clearly I'm surprised, too. I'm modding this comm, some of the other mods talked about going, and it snowballed. Most of the $$ will be the plane ticket. (Damn Jet Blue not flying to Atlanta!) (And I finally understand why everyone was like, "damn HP cons are expensive" because $80? Seriously?) I'm currently all about that Independent Film track. Anyway, yeah, let me know if you're going.

Meanwhile I'm thinking about doing this post about how Danny Williams is pinging the same spot in my heart that Leonard McCoy does. I'm generally pretty shy about talking about this sort of thing on LJ because I'm very self-conscious of the ways in which I don't do it like most fangirls, that is, it really isn't physical and all about the photos and all of that. In real life as well as in fannish life, I'm attracted to personalities very strongly, but looks I don't care about that much. It's a fandom: ur doin it wrong moment for me, so I don't talk about it often, but I'm trying not to be quite so reticent.

I'm totally with you on the being more interested in personalities than looks thing. Also, I am currently overflowing with love for Danny Williams.

See, it's got to be personality. Because I don't dig dark-haired, dark-eyed men at all. When all my friends were going "oooh, Karl Urban is gonna be Bones" I went and looked him on on Imdb and said "meh." Then I saw the movie and totally fell for McCoy--BAM. Karl Urban grew on me, yeah, but it was McCoy that swatted me upside the head and yanked on my gonads.

Now, Danny Williams is more my physical type, but it's the character I like because I'm all about the snark over innate gentleness. Danno and his little girl make me melt like honey in the microwave. The fact he's a blond is just icing on the cake.

If you put Karl and Scotty together you'd get my type--short, stocky, muscular, lots of body hair, but dark haired and then eyes are optional. Bearded and in glasses and basically I'd be stalking him. And that might be why I don't often fall all over actors, because so few of them look like that.

Anyway I will table this briefly until I make this post, likely very early next week!
