An announcement . . .
Mar. 2nd, 2003 09:28 amof a new Y!group for your discussion pleasure:
Midnight-Oil
We--that is, we mods:
nothingbutfic,
deche,
sangredulce,
lasultrix,
penelope_z,
queerasjohn,
ravenchel, and me--are striving toward a list where we can discuss fics seriously but not self-importantly, where we can look not just at the issues within the fics themselves but how fics relate to each other thematically. In order to do this, we will be discussing fics with all ships--that means ALL ships, slash, het, or none at all--all ratings, all themes. We really just want them to be good, although we mods are so varied about what we prefer that there is sure to be a vast range of fics discussed. For more information on exactly how the list will work, please read our FAQ, which is really less a list of rules than a statement of purpose.
We opened for membership yesterday, but officially for discussion tomorrow to give you a chance to read the featured stories for March. Our theme for March is "war wounded": how fic can examine the effect of emotional trauma in the characters, and the morality of the actions they commit to survive. The three featured stories are Of Linen by
ballyharnon, Dark Side of Light by
mistful and And in Arcadia I by Catja M.
I'm happy to say that I'll be a "review mod" for the month of March, which means I'll be helping the discussion along--so I'd love to see as many of you there as possible!
