HIMYM and also Dancing with the Stars

I put Dancing with the Stars on the DVR this year because I'm a SYTYCD fan and both Dmitry and Lacey Schwimmer are on this year. (Dmitry is dancing with Holly from Girls Next Door which is HI-larious.) But the big shock was SatC Movie's naked guy—you know, the one next door to Samantha's place in LA who was always in the shower—and what a great dancer he is! He easily got the top score and was fun to watch.

Oh, and also Lil' Kim, who wasn't bad. She said that she started watching Dancing with the Stars when she was in prison, and dedicated her dance to "my girls at the federal detention center." The way she tells the story makes it sound like when Tracy Turnblad is in jail and the other girls are ironing her hair and talking about how hot her boyfriend is while they watch him sadly dancing alone on the Corny Collins Show. (Side note: omg musical!Corny/Maybelle ftw!)

Right, so HIMYM. Last night's episode was SO FUNNY. Clearly a set up episode for the rest of the season, but still very well done in its own right, as opposed to being a random filler episode. Robin losing her gun (and the sports reporter saying, "I think it's good we broke up") and Barney worrying about Wendy and the undercurrents of Ted being with Karen on the rebound from Stella all refer to that same episode.

I love that the others are all staying up late so they can sit in the bar at closing time drinking beers while Robin sips coffee and gets ready to go to work. As I have already said, I adore pretentious Ted and I've always liked Laura Prepon so great casting! I loved Barney's laughter at his own practical joke and falling out of the booth.

I also like Barney considering sleeping with both Lily and Marshall. They're a great threesome because Barney ships Lily and Marshall so hard. If I weren't "out" of writing smut these days I would write that. Your thoughts?

That casting/writing of Ted's college girlfriend was so inspired. I couldn't get over the genius of her first line: That's so American! It's like "Let's eat boloney sandwiches and be really racist!"

I LOVED this week's HIMYM. So many little rewards for longtime viewers. Also, I loved that Scooter was Karen and Ted's waiter (for some reason I originally typed 'date') but they never pointed it out. I'm not a big fan of Laura Prepon and was slightly nervous about her being on the show, so the fact that she is a "douching it up" is perfect for me. Plus, you know, I love pretentious!Ted, so it's a win/win. Also loved Marshall's wrestling makeup and his, "I do not regret that for one second" re: MJ Smooth.

I loved it, too! There were some things that just totally felt so them to me, even the little thing of one flashback scene where Marshall is lying on his bed eating a bunch of fruit... I thought: "fruit? wtf? since when do they have fruit in their dorm room? well... obviously they're going to come back to that!" and then they did! with Lily saying, "b/c Marshall ate my bowl of fruit." and I just laughed and laughed. *happy sigh* comic genius.
