Emmy noms are out!

… and Ryan was nominated for hosting American Idol! Every year Idol itself is nominated for best competitive reality show (and is this year again, along with Top Chef, Project Runway and Dancing with the Stars) and every year The Amazing Race wins. But Ryan's only real competition in the new hosting category imo is Jeff Probst of Survivor, so I have my fingers crossed! As a general rule I don't get caught up in who wins and who loses because that's based on so many weird things, but I'll admit I'm really rooting for Ryan, because there's just so much disrespect for him even among Idol fans. Like his personality or not, he's really, really good at hosting live television.

You know I'm excited and I will totally be rooting for him. We've had this discussion before, but in my mind it comes down to Jeff and Ryan anyway and I think Ryan has more to handle and does so with real class. *crosses fingers*

Yay for Ryan! But I'm sort of bummed that his category is on the creative arts broadcast, and not the regular primetime show. It would have been nice to see Simon's reaction if/when Ryan wins. ;)

Some of these nominations make me sad because my poor little show (Pushing Daisies) which is not quite a comedy is up against The Office in every category it's nominated.

However, the fact that this is nominated thrills me:

You know, Carrell didn't get the Emmy last year, and I can't remember what happened at the Globes, but the Emmy might be ready to move on. I think it's outstanding that they got the nom with only nine episodes! And the nominations will give them a boost into the new season even if they don't win anything.

I think Tom Bergeron might be the spoiler here. He has a smaller ego than Ryan or Jeff and I think people might want to reward him for being such a nice guy.

Frankly, if Ryan doesn't win, thats who I want to see win. Probst, Klum, Mandel?? Pfft!

I'm really thrilled Phil Koegan didn't get a nom. Suck it, Amazing Race!

I adore Heidi but she doesn't really host that show, Tim does. Padma is much more visible on TC than Heidi is on PR. Howie Mandel is just confusing—where's Cat Deeley? Lame!

God, Bergeron, I remember 20 years ago, when I was in college in Boston ("is old") he had a local Donahue-esque talk show. I always like seeing him pop up. I think you're right. Whatever Probst. But if Probst wins Ryan will freak out, because he gets all rival-y with the guy. And then Simon will rub it in of course.

random fact: my daughter was madly in love with jeff probst when she was seven or so. it was hilarious. all you had to do was say "i'll go tally the votes" and she would freak out and disintegrate.
