I know, I don't post for days and then I'm spammy mcspamerton but I feel like it evens out and seriously, if you think it's spammy to post more than once a week you would have defriended me before now, right?

[livejournal.com profile] bhanesidhe and I had a very Brooklyn day yesterday, between the Brooklyn Museum and going to Brooklyn Bridge Park to look at the waterfalls (you can see all four from there) so I'm just watching the performances now. It feels too early for them to start dancing twice, so it was a LOT to take in. The Broadway routines were great because they were actually for two people, and not two people pretending to be twenty. Mia's contemporary was fantastic as usual. I won't say no to this many shirtless men. Everyone's predicting Matt & Kourtni, Thayne & Comfort, and Will & Jessica as the bottom three, and that's what I see. However, my favorite part was at the end, when Kherington and Chelsie were ballroom dancing; I think I kinda ship them now …

See I agree on the bottom three but my sister swore up and down that Will and Jessica were safe and that, because the judges made note of it, Gev & Courtney would be the other bottom couple.

I have to say though, the judges are really getting to me with this Will/Jessica situation. He is not the second coming or anything yet this feels like last year where they just wouldn't shut up about Danny Tidwell and they are so critical of Jessica around every curve. I actually think she's a great dancer and brings a good dynamic to their pairing.

Ah, Brooklyn... Sex and the City will forever make me assosciate Brookyln with Miranda and Steve which is not a bad thing.

tl;dr: I agree, they need to stop with the constant harassing her and kissing his ass, and not just because enough already but also because it isn't making him a better dancer, either.

I was never a big Danny fan—I picked up on that hint of arrogance they chided him about sometimes. The thing about Will is that he sells every single dance. He completely flings himself into it. There's a great interview with Travis Wall that was linked to on [livejournal.com profile] _sytycd_ where he said that he doesn't look for the same things in a dancer as the producers do—they're looking for looks, presentation, personality, that "it" factor. Will really has it; it's enjoyable watching him dance even if all the technical bits aren't there, and they so very often are that I'm willing to let him go.

I do think he's bringing it down just a little bit for Jessica's sake, not only because he's sort of gentlemanly, but really I think because he genuinely likes her and she seems like a no-drama hard worker, and he'd probably rather have that in a partner.

That said, I like Jessica's dancing, and her only real problem is that she doesn't sparkle like Will does and she doesn't inhabit the dance the way he does. With her, you're always aware that she's dancing. With him, say with the disco or the jive number, it's as if he's just out dancing, albeit incredibly well. It doesn't make him a better actual dancer, but it makes him closer to what the judges and producers are looking for. I hope that she lasts the next two weeks not only so she can go on tour but so she can get out of his shadow a bit and show what she can do. He might intimidate her a bit, not meaning to. (It doesn't help that the one time they were in the bottom three, her solo was forgettable.)

Miranda and Steve were my favorite couple on SatC, possibly because I loved me some Steve long time. I've only lived in Brooklyn for 5 months now, after living in Manhattan for 14 years (!) so I'm still getting used to it, but I'm really loving it so far.
