Busier and more productive weekend than I'd thought I'd have, which was pretty awesome. Traipsed all the way out to the craft store with [livejournal.com profile] ali_wildgoose and then realized that the thing I thought I could get wasn't what people thought when I said it, and I actually needed something completely different, but I did still get floss and an awesome organizer for the floss including numbered stickers for the colors because I'm anal like that. Yesterday I also cleaned my room and found two things I was vaguely looking for and not something I was actually looking for—because it wasn't missing, which mostly has to do with my inability to count.

I'm sad because I just put [livejournal.com profile] idolslash off my default filter on the fan comm filter and I'll just check in on it sometimes. I'm definitely done with the Cookleta flooding my flist; it used to be such a nice, not quiet but regular sort of place. But seeing 3 Cookleta stories a day, if I'm being honest, only makes me more resentful about the entire Cookleta thing, when there's no real reason to be. I mean, it's not like those people would have been writing Rymon, even if they did actually kiss on live television. And then today someone posted "Pairings: Simon Cowell/David Cook, Michael Johns/David Cook. Summary: There would be no Jolene in Simon's life story." And I'm like, no. There you cannot go. I'm somewhat okay with Simon being the big meanie in the background of a Cake story, but I'm too much of an OTP'er for this.

I realized yesterday that I'm lucky enough (since she lives nearby) to have [livejournal.com profile] honestys_easy withdrawal! The end of Idol was cushioned by the visit of [livejournal.com profile] dreamerren and [livejournal.com profile] makemeabeliever, but I've gone an entire week without seeing her! We're in that lull before SYTYCD gets going properly so we can Thursday night with [livejournal.com profile] sistermagpie and [livejournal.com profile] ali_wildgoose. (By the way, how fantastic are the results shows of SYTYCD compared to the uselessness of Idol results shows!) But I think I've managed to lure her with Top Chef!

*hugs* (Because I can!)

And I'm with you on the Cookleta, I mean I understand how people see it I suppose, that's just all brotherly vibe for me and it's sweet but yeah...no thanks on the fic.

I wish that I could watch shows with you guys :(

You'll have to let me know when that excellent Michael/David sequel updates! On which I need to comment but that means finding my damn insane journal login.

We wish it too! Damn Idol for being on mid week!

I love a man in baseball drag.

Ugh, I'm sick of all those Cookleta fics too. I'm hoping they'll die out soon... I really don't see the appeal. I just can't seriously write Archuleta into anything, I don't think, so... it's just realy weird.

The Cookleta thing is entirely coming from external to the overall Idolslash fandom. It shows up all the time on fandom!secrets too. It's like, all these people who never wrote even RPS before, never mind Idol rps. And I can understand the really young girls who are writing it—that's so Archie as self-insertion. But the other folks, I completely don't understand at all!

Oh good old other david. Brilliant icon!

Hee <3 I wish I could say I made it, but I didn't D: Still, it was one of the only ones I could find of him so ^^;;

Oh well, I still love my less popular David -squeezeshim- Especially since he's not at the center of random Idol fics that are popping up all over the place. Eek.

Eeew, Cookleta stories? Really? That's gross & wrong on soooo many levels. *shudder*

I don't get it, there's this whole thing where these people who haven't really been in Idolslash before, maybe not even into RPS, are flooding in with the Cookleta. And I can understand the really young girls who are writing it—that's so Archie as self-insertion. But the other folks, I completely don't understand at all! If I were writing singerslash this year it would be among Cook/Johns/Castro, but not Archuleta.

He's like the most nonsexual AI contestant since Kovais. I don't mean that in a bad way because he's just a kid. And because of his career and father he's even more immature than most seventeen year olds.

It reminds me of when people wrote Clay/Ryan fics every day for like a year. Bleh.

Well, and they just updated the memories section and there are over 500 Clyan entries! Insane. Anything else you can't judge, as most of the singerslash ships have their own comms, but it does make me sad (again) that there's more clyan than rymon. Oh Rymon, everyone ships you and no one writes you.

I don't even have [livejournal.com profile] idolslash on my flist because it's just...ehhh, I don't know, rather a crapshoot when looking for well-written fics and half the stuff I wouldn't care to read, even before the recent Cookleta outbreak (Danny/anyone...yeah, no.) There are all these people shipping it and I just want to shake them about it; I'm all for making mountains out of molehills but the Davids are far too brotherly to be seen any other way by me. (Though after this fic is done I'm thinking of writing a little transition drabble about Ryan and Simon in the past going through interviewees for the Cake Shop and Ryan picking out Blake while Simon picks Cook. This is what I think of in my free time.)

Heee, withdrawal??? That's nuts, bb. I miss you too! (I'd miss Veda but I don't really think that she'd care, lol.) And yes, SYTYCD is the one two-night reality show where I actually want to WATCH the second night (even though I despise most of their club-music guest performers they have every week). Also, someone needs to make a hip-hop routine to one of Blake's songs so my life can be complete.

If you wrote that I would love you long time. I'm not proud. I will whore out for Rymon and yours would be well-written and likely hilarious.

My SYTYCD ff'ing priority list:

Dance Intro = fuck yes
Dance for your life = awesome
Actual results = why we're watching
Recap = got it the first time
Musical guest = lame

Maybe Travis will choreograph to Blake and the space-time continuum will collapse in on itself.

Veda always cares.

Dude, it gets weirder. There is now a fic about Simon spanking Jason Castro, as he sings hallelujah. It ...boggles.

And anything with Archie in it is just nooooo way. Eeeepp! I've read a couple David Cook/Micheal Johns, but thats more because of Rymon withdrawal then anything else :P

I'm waiting patiently for Rymon, it's sure to pop up sooner or later. I mean hell, Ryan had this weekend off and said that "he was somewhere, with somebody..." That he's in London with Simon is barely speculation at this point ;)

Yeah, we have the kink meme to thank for a lot of the current weirdness. Which is fine, because that's the point of kink memes really, and I appreciate the writers not doing the anon thing. Like, own your kinks, man.

I did just read another Archie stumbles onto sex, wanders off and masturbates story which makes more sense than anything else frankly.

I don't know, Rymon is not popular during the hiatus. I knew when Ryan wasn't around that he was in London. They're so very transparent at this point. Clearly they are sending me secret signals because they, too, are annoyed that there are more stories about the singers than about them.

1. Floss? oooooo, upon which sort of crafting adventure are you setting forth?

2. SYTYCD result shows are SO MUCH more fantastic than AI results shows that it is too phenomenal for the likes of Lj to contain. ;)

2. It's like, the more that the AI results show is bloated and boring the more the SYTYCD show is awesome and amazing.

1. Okay so this is the thing. I really like the act of embroidery and I like making things, but I don't like most of the things that are being suggested to embroider, like ties or tea towels (who uses that many tea towels?) or socks which you know I hate wearing. Embroidering linens like table cloths and pillow cases sort of reminds me of that summer house aesthetic, like one of those early 19th c Frank Lloyd Wright-esque lodges that were built in National Parks. And while I really love that aesthetic, and that's how I would totally furnish a summer home, it feels out of place in my apartment, like too much of a statement. I think country style belongs in the country; otherwise it's kitsch.

That said, other people like socks and if we have another craft exchange this year I'll probably make cute designs on ankle socks.

So I was at MoMA a few weeks ago and saw the Color Chart (http://www.moma.org/exhibitions/2008/colorchart/) exhibit I was reminded of my life-long love for that blocks of color aesthetic. That's how I've always colored and drawn, in abstract, since I was very small. I never liked making crappy trees and dogs that didn't look like dogs and all of that. And I still have a lot of books of abstract patterns for coloring. So I think I might, as snooty and absurd as this sound, try to make some wall hangings with blocks of color.

My little beginner's kit has these iron-on patterns and I was trying to find paper on which I could print or copy some patterns and then iron them on, but that's not what iron-on transfer paper means, so I came up empty. Then I saw another book that said I should get some dressmaker's carbon. I need to get fabric to make these anyway, so I'm off to the fabric store later today. I'm not excited about tracing the patterns because of the straight lines, but I have a ruler, and I probably won't be able to achieve amazingly straight lines in my stitching right now anyway, but I hope it doesn't look too ghetto in the end.

Or the whole thing might look completely horrible, and I'm doomed to a craft that I enjoy the process of but not the results, and that seems silly.
