1. "He's red province! He's from the deep north!!" = Win.

2. "Did you meet him at Degrassi?" "You're Oooh, Canada face."

3. I loved all of the revertigo stuff. Hahaha. I love that we're supposed to imagine Lily was like that in highschool.

4. Parental Marshall/Lily. "NOT NOW, TED!" Made my life.

5. This episode made me love James Van Der Beek. This should've been impossible. Like it snowing in Louisiana in August.

6. Barney being sweet in the bar would've been more than enough to tide me over for weeks. WEEKS. It almost made me a little verklempt.

OH MAN YOU ARE TOTALLY RIGHT. TOTALLY. RIGHT.

ROBIN: *PRETENDS NOTHING HAPPENED*
BARNEY: *PRETENDS TO BE COOL WITH THAT*
INNER BARNEY: :C :C :C :C :C

*flails around in flaily manner of flail*

I always love all Canada jokes, but Degrassi was the best.

Lily being a moron is a special kind of awesome because she so rarely is.

Parental Marshall/Lily reminds me—omg, "I have a list of the women I slept with. It's called my marriage license, what up?" and the high-five MADE OF WIN

I am also a Pacey girl, but I've always liked James Van Der Beek when he wasn't Dawson, like last fall when he was hiLARious on Ugly Betty. Well, when he wasn't Dawson or making movies while still playing Dawson about being in college or something.

If they had stopped at any point after Barney started to comfort her I would have been happy. But omg, they DIDN'T.

Ali and I were talking and you can see her say this below but my slight prediction (I don't like making them) is that Robin will be like, It was just a thing! and Barney will say Totally! and not mean it and be woeful.

I am so flaily! I am so the opposite of what I was last night! I feel so positive and full of life and happiness and bunny rabbits!

I really loved Robin's whole speech about wanting to be vulnerable again, and how when Barney was like, "that's dumb" he didn't address that part. Because I think Barney wants to be vulnerable again, too, but he also thinks it's totally lame.

Well, I always love a good Degrassi reference.

It was just...that was not what I was expecting from her revertigo.

MY. FAVOURITE. LINE. EVER. True story. No really. Other than, "Legen - wait for it, and I hope you aren't lactose intolerant, because the next word is -- DARY."

I've never reall seen him as anyone but Dawson. So I just see...Dawson when I see him. But when he walked into the bar? Oh, holy Jesus. I lost it. I just lost it.

Well, it was just the sweetest scene ever. That's what I love about this show, it can go from me laughing my ass off, to genuinely touching me without being cloying. God Bless it.

:( :( :( :( :( nooo.

That. Was awesome.

I was sort of hoping they would pull this rabbit out of the hat at the very end of the show, because I'm worried about their ability (anyone's ability) to pull this off without changing the core of Barney and not having it be saaaaapppppy.

But if anyone can do it it's the team who came up with the marriage license high five.

*hopes highly*

Marriage license high five might be my current favorite Marshall and Lily moment.

I agree about it being at the end of the show, and I think that Craig & Carter are worried that they're not going to get renewed so they're putting in things they might have waited on, but that they know they can deal with the fallout of next season. Given how well they handled doomed Ted and Robin, making it totally inevitable and believable and awesome while still showing why it was doomed (and I have to say, another favorite part for me was that Ted was the last one still sitting with Robin at the bar—I adore that they weren't friends for a while and now they clearly are) I agree, I actually trust them.

Which is saying a lot for me these days.

And also Robin Sparkles!

There's a tampon commercial in there someplace HELLO.

Robin and Barney!

Parental Marshall and Lily!

Everyone being concerned about Robin while also making as many jokes about Canada as possible!

Ted staying the longest at the bar with Robin!

God, I love this show!

I love references to anything that was on Nick or The N, like Degrassi, or Daria, or there was a fandom secret yesterday that was about Doug. Doug!

And that the revertigo was also true of her friend, and that she was like, "we have a term for this" and Marshall is like, "revertigo?" No.

The funny thing also about this show is, I had been spoiled about JvdB walking into the bar, his appearance on the show, and the entire return of Robin Sparkles, because they were promo'ing it on E!news and Kristin visited the set where they were filming the new video. And how awesome is that, that they promoted something totally awesome, but left the omg AWESOMEST PART for the end?

I loved Robin confessing that she wishes she were more vulnerable and Barney not really addressing that at all. This is why they are such a great pair. So right now mostly I'm hoping that this icon does not apply. Perhaps it only applies to Ted.

Oh, and there are rumors of more Britney but the producers say they're not true.

I watch HIMYM last night for the first time (you can thank Jason Segel for that:) The whole Robin Sparkles thing made me chuckle; when was she supposedly 16?

In like, 1994 or something? The joke is that the 80s came late to Canada.

I'm so excited that you watched the show! There are a lot of in jokes on the show now, and the continuing story is pretty fun. I definitely HUGELY recommend that you seek out season 1&2 DVDs, and this season is mostly available on CBS.com. yay!

Yes, okay. So I was telling [livejournal.com profile] madeitsimple that I think I owe you a Coke for the Barney/Robin. (I watched it this morning but I think I need to watch it again, seriously.)

"No, it's actually a guy I know that lives IN THE MIRROR."

Last November I was in the East Village (around Veneiro's, which I actually took people to this weekend and it was wonderful!) and I passed by Van Der Beek and his wife in the street. :-D

And you have no idea but I am so, so Lilly when around my friends from high school. It's a little insane.

Is there anywhere where you can download mp3s of Sandcastles In The Sand and Let's Go To The Mall? And .avi videos as well, because that needs to be on my Zune yesterday.

I hear all of these things about Degrassi and I still have no idea what the hell it is. Is it like the Canadian version of Saved by The Bell or something? o-O

ALAN THICKE. That is all.

I wasn't sure it would happen in canon, I just thought it could happen, and then in the last few weeks I thought that either they were toying with us and all it would ever be was a flirtation, or they were going to go there. I love that they went there because will-they-or-won't-they is a trap, man, a TRAP.

And that Robin was like, you right? And when he said no, I thought he was going to say his brother James, but he faked me out!

How was JvdB looking?

Haha, I think I pick my accent back up when I go home. Also, were you a VM fan?

Robin Sparkles has a mo-fo MYSPACE. So I would check there.

Degrassi was more like a soap, not a sitcom. It was on PBS here. It dealt with DEEP ISSUES—no really, like teen pregnancy and stuff. That aired when I was in college. Then a few years ago they did a Degrassi Next Generation that was built around the baby that was born of the teen who was pregnant in the first series, who's now a teen herself. It also deals with DEEP ISSUES like coming out in school and that sort of thing.

Alan Thicke is a god. I feel like at this point we are pretty much waiting for references to every single sitcom of the last 25 years.

I knew it! I KNEW it! I knew Robin and Barney were going to get together, ever since they went on their Bro date to the cigar bar and lasertag place.

I totally thought of you in those last moments--I didn't see them coming at all! I just didn't think it would really go there AND THEN IT DID!

And I totally agree with you both on the marriage high-five being awesome, and on the way the last scene just might fall out with Robin saying it was nothing and Barney agreeing...but only on the outside. Not just because that's the most conflicted way to go but because it's totally what their characters would do.

Oh, and another favorite moment for me was TED'S revertigo with his buddy. "Sorry to hear about your dad, man."

That will remain one of my favorite episodes EVER. I watched it dozens of times while I was writing the Yuletide fic to get the voices right.

My expectations, even for this show, they are SO LOW. I am so used to writers fucking with me, Meg, fucking with ships and teasing viewers just because they can and I don't find it fun to watch in any way.

Not just because that's the most conflicted way to go but because it's totally what their characters would do.

I feel like this sentence should be emblazoned on the wall of every television writers room in Los Angeles. This might be my problem with television today. And oh! how it pains me to say that!

Yeah I will probably seek out the DVDs or at least catch up on reruns somehow. It's all Jason Segel's fault!! Him and his wonderful, silly Forgetting Sarah Marshall. And my never-ending love for Neil Patrick Harris :D

Oh my GOD, CLIO! I can't believe I missed this episode when it aired and had to come in a few days late, but. BUT! The Canada jokes, and James van der Beek's accent, and Barney running out of the bar to find the video, and the revertigo, and omg the Barney/Robin and, just. Man.

I am all aflail.
