Oh, Ryan called Simon "Cranky," like, as a nickname. That was some seriously adorable. I love them.

Asia'h Epperson, "I Wanna Dance with Somebody." It was just okay. Kinda boring. Bad stomping strategy. Horrible highwaisted trousers #1.

Kady Malloy, "Who Wants to Live Forever." So, in season 5 Kat sang the hell out of this and it was amazing and dramatic and Simon basically creamed in his jeans. And this? Not so much. Horrible hippie tunic top #1.

Amanda Overmyer, "I Hate Myself for Loving You." Fucking awesome. Completely adorable smile (dimples!) that shows how young she really is. Notable lack of either horrible hippie tunic or horrible highwaisted trousers.

Carly Smithson, "I Drove All Night." I didn't love it, but I really like her. Her hair doesn't go with her personality at all. Horrible highwaisted trousers #2.

Kristy Lee Cook, "Faithfully." That sucked, but gave Randy an opportunity to talk about his time with Journey. Horrible hippie tunic #2.

Ramiele Malubuy, "Against All Odds." Fucking awesome. Great 80s-ish makeup but I didn't dig the super narrow belt over the strategically unbuttoned cardigan.

Brooke White, "Love Is a Battlefield." Fucking awesome. Didn't love the big ring though.

Syesha Mercado, "Saving All My Love for You." Oh Syesha baby, don't be the Brandon of this season. That was really boring and you didn't do anything with that song. Horrible highwaisted trousers (okay, shorts) #3.

I voted for Amanda, Brooke and Carly.

I don't like Amanda at all. I think it has to do with what she does with her eyes while she's performing. Well, that, and I don't care for her voice. I thought Carly and Brooke were amazing. Carly's hair was kinda Dita VonTeese-ish. If she's going to wear it light that, she has to wear a patent leather bustier for it to work.

I think that Ramiele might be the dark horse.

I love listening to Randy talk about Journey. Actually in general I love how when they get into the 80s they start talking about their careers, which the kids can't remember.

When R sang "Against All Odds" I started flashing back to the Oscars when they wouldn't let Phil Collins sing it. Because now I do that whenever anybody but Phil Collins (or me) sings that song, which I loved in 1982.

Great Love is a Battlefield, especially watching Simon get so excited about it.

Oh, and that was hilarious when Simon told Ryan to just "comprehend" his comment to Kady. I'd think it would be pretty straightforward, if not to her. It's like a curtain comes down over her personality when she sings, unless she's imitating someone else. If she has a career, maybe she needs to go the Marni Nixon route.

Iirc, he just wasn't considered famous enough. I picture a lot of old 1982 academy members saying, "Who is this guy? We need a star!"

So they got Anne Reinking, I think it was, to dance and sing it. It was very cheesy.

IIRC, it was after the outcry over that, that the producers were like, okay, we'll always get the original artist to sing the song. Because it was this big huge deal—that song was a big hit.

Amanda rocks so hard. I think she's just really shy about her singing, when she's not doing the singing, which leads to all the looking down and hiding behind her hair. She needs to get over that, but she's definitely my favorite anyway.

I agreed with Simon about Carly and poor song choice. Still voted for her.

Brooke was probably my least favorite. She wasn't dull like the other blondes - just actively disliked her rendition of the song. I don't know, she has a good voice, but her thing isn't my thing. *shrugs*

Did anyone else notice the bitch glares Ryan was giving Simon and Paula when they were cuddling and crap? At the very least he was very unamused. And it was funny.

Did you also notice that Simon very deliberately brushed his hand against Ryan's, when he took his arm back from being around Paula? Ryan and Simon were also both looking down at their hands when he did it.

And I loved Ryan's expressions during that part as well. Especially the "Anywayyyys...." kind of thing he did when he announced that there were two acts left and to go to itunes.


It's very interesting that this "Saula" stuff happens on nights when Ryan and Simon have an argument on the show. It's like Simon knows it pisses Ryan off.
