Note to self: When writing a multi-character story, be sure not to have the plot advance by them all doing stupid things at the same time. God, I don't even care about Heroes and it's irritating me.

How I Met Your Mother, on the other hand, continues to be awesome. I bought and then watched the first two seasons on DVD this weekend and not only does this show seriously reward repeated viewing, but the commentaries make me trust the creators and producers even more. I'm so excited to see where this show is going. For those of you who would like to have something great to watch during the hiatus, I encourage you to watch it from the beginning—22 eps of a sitcom doesn't take long to get through, trust me, and it's on sale for like $15 at Amazon.

I'll be spending the hiatus watching BSG, Firefly and Deadwood. Oh, and Idol and Project Runway, which I would have watched strike or no.

That reminds me, PR! So I've been fine with the aufs so far, and I don't know who I like. Chris March seems fun but could grow tiresome or be the voice of reason; too soon to tell. Same with self consciously straight guy with beard, and former Israeli army guy, and Kit and Sweet P. Vicktorya seems super chill. GBF P_____ said that Elise is the new Guadaloupe. I like the girl who made that orange dress first ep, too. But it's too soon for any favorites other than Tim, though I adored Kors's "a very Mugler Addicted to Love Moment" comment on Christian's dress last week.

I will absolutely be posting about it as I make my way through the seasons! I went to a group watch of the Razor movie on Saturday night and found it interesting, if a bit messy with the sexuality and race issues. I haven't watched the miniseries but I have watched "33" so far.

Oh, I know it's very messy re: issues of sexuality and class and race and gender, but it tries which is what more than most TB does, you know? It airs the fact there are discontinuities and disagreements.

Do you plan on getting S1 of HIMYM? Perhaps we could try that in the Heroes slot.

I actually purchased S1 and S2, so we could definitely try that. It IS a half-hour sitcom, though, which isn't a form that a lot of people discuss, and it is mostly about relationships, romantic and platonic both. But it also has Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan, plus Jason Segel who was on Freaks and Geeks.

Chris had also been interested in Deadwood, as I have a divx of S1 from Ziggy.

Hai. I will put this comment here and hopefully elicit responses from TWO amazing people instead of just one.

Erm, my comment turned into a huge rant that I didn't even know was in me. So I made an entry. Thanks for the temporary text box though!

Hope all is well with you both!

And Pushing Daisies, yes? :>

(And a pox on Heroes. I don't care how many people are waxing poetic about the last few eps - I'm done with that show.)

Yes, and Pushing Daisies! I will edit to add.

I'm loving that icon. I was never really that invested in Heroes and didn't watch the first season, but people were gathering to watch it and I like gathering to watch a TV show as a thing, and I don't dislike Heroes--I just don't care about it that much one way or the other. But it's really fun to watch with friends, and there is a lot of race meta being written about it, too, so it's good to know what is going on for that reason.

I'm not sure why people waxed poetic about the last few eps--they were merely better than the seriously not good start to the season; they just finally fucking MOVED THE PLOT rather than just sitting there.

I haven't seen PR as I don't have Bravo (boohoo!) so your last paragraph was all in a foreign language to me, but HIMYM is one of my favorite shows on television right now, and definitely my favorite comedy. (I'm still clutching onto Heroes like many others hold onto Lost: with fangirlish fervor and hopes it will not disappoint.) Have you watched any of season 3 yet? There's this one rant of Ted's about New Jersey that seriously every New Yorker will love. If the DVDs are that cheap, that might be an early holidays present for myself.

I have watched season 3! And for reasons I can't divulge here, I've kept all but the first four eps of S3 on my TIVO, and those only because I made that decision after I'd already deleted them. That said, the start of this season was really uneven, not because of the through plot but because the stand-alone plots weren't strong.

Last night's show I thought was a classic, but I adore Barney backstory. I honestly don't have a favorite character, though I wish that Robin weren't so opaque.

Since you talked about it a month or two ago, I just wanted to remind you that Wednesday (December 5th) is Talk Like A Ninja Day :) ... at least, that's what I seem to recall somebody telling you when you lamented there were no Ninja day.
