Black Monday, and my ship of destiny

I'm going to be spammy today. Just warning ya.

Can you believe it's been 20 years since Black Monday? I had only been in college for a month and I remember some people being worried about their parents' investments and thinking, "I don't think my parents have any investments." But there was this feeling that the wild times on Wall Street—the ones that some people at my college had every intention of joining once they got their Economics degrees and were recruited by one investment bank or another—might be over.

One thing I love about being someone's beta is that there's a present waiting for you in your mailbox sometimes. It's awesome.

I was also one month into my freshman year in college when Black Monday hit and I was taking a business class -- coincidentally, we had started a stock project (pick some stocks, see how they do, etc). I had picked The Limited, The Gap and Benetton, IIRC ;P

Farscape is amazing. It managed to pull off a whole lot of stuff that I'm not sure another show could have gotten away with. That and John/Aeryn is like my only ironclad "no, I won't read about them paired with anyone else" OTP.

Plus, y'know, Muppets.

Farscape is crack of the highest form. I won't pimp it too hard, since it is sci-fi (although much more with the character relationships than any resemblance to "science"), but if you do decide to check it out, you might want to jump to nearer the end of S1 at first - some of the earliest ones are iffy. :-)
