Guys, I know I've been really spammy and kind of grouchy this morning and I have to say, I hate being grouchy. I feel like between a good friend having to move away, and the whole stupid race wank, and now everyone having another childporn meltdown I've been angry for a solid week.

I am eating my lunch now, which helps, but I'm asking: got anything good to tell me? Anything you just totally adore? That makes you pleased as punch?

I'm really enjoying So You Think You Can Dance this season. I'm sad about the eliminations last night, but I'm really looking forward to the next two weeks of dancing.

I love being in France with Drae. Not that I am currently there, since I had to make a library-run over the weekend to get some last-minute research done, but I'm going back for another nine weeks on Monday evening. And it's grand. Her flat is cold, small, full, expensive, has no hot water in the kitchen and the bathroom is tiny to the point of making me claustrophobic, and I have no space to work there. But it's still brilliant because even though we only see each other about three hours a day since she is working a lot and needs more sleep than me, it's still three hours more than usual, and that makes me absolutely pleased as punch.

It's great that you guys are having this nice chunk of time to really spend together!

Oh, and also, I don't think you're overreacting. I'm not really a believer in that concept; people react how they react to things. I think I'm going to let others fight over this because I'm trying to pick my battles, but, yeah.

I've been sort of overwhelmed by grad school, but lately I've been looking at the books and the coursework and the big community the grad students have going, and I'm sort of thinking that I'm going to love this.

Also I found out I only have share a bathroom with one person. For like, the first time in my life. :>

This is the thing about grad school: It is always overwhelming. It will never stop being overwhelming. Instead of trying to master it, get zen about it, because it just keeps going and then suddenly you're trying to find a job. It's awesome, though. I mean, you're being overwhelmed by awesome stuff.

I'm excruciatingly nervous about going up to Chapel Hill next month and starting classes at UNC and basically being away from all my friends, but I've gotten to know some of the people I met at orientation a bit better, and they all seem like such nice, fun, smart people that I could really get along with -- and two of them live on my floor in my dorm! So I'm starting to be a bit more excited about it all. And I'm looking forward to my contemporary Latin American politics class SO much. I'm thinking this entire experience is going to be a LOT of fun.

Um. That wasn't exactly overwhelmingly cheerful, was it? It was at least optimistic! Um, for something 100% good: I got this shirt on sale at Anthropologie last weekend for $30 when it was originally $70, and it is so gorgeous and comfortable, and I kind of want to marry it. Or live in it forever.

And I think you're really awesome, which is also good! <3

Colleges like UNC where everyone is on campus and such, they change your life. You will meet friends that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Not that they'll replace your high school friends; they won't. It's definitely going to be a lot of fun. Scary sometimes, lonely other times, but totally worth it.

I love good buys on good clothing, man. There is little that is better.

I adore my actors - I have such a wonderful group of people around me who are not only talented, but really great people. It's nice to have that positive around even when things get crazy.

And I think you are wonderful :D I'm so glad to have you on my flist.

It's great to have a collaborative hobby that gets you meeting people and things like that and yes, are positive. I'm so pleased that so many of my RL friends are positive people, too.

Oh my goodness, thank you! I'm so pleased we met, and that you're on my flist too!

Jade is ridiculously amusing when she has a "hurt" paw. She rubbed a spot raw on her pad at daycare the other day, so I did the good dog-mommy thing and wrapped it up so she'd stop licking at it. When I was done, she was literally holding her paw in the air and out to the side as she tried to run around the living room. It was quite possibly the funniest thing ever. :))

Pleased as punch:
I'm engrossed in a biography of Elizabeth I, which is fun.

My son has been wandering around belting out songs from 'High School Musical' ever since he watched it with his cousin four times last week; this is both kind of adorable and also really really funny since the songs he knows the most words to are the smarmy love songs.

A tiny bright hummingbird has claimed our backyard as its territory and chases off another hummingbird which tries to weasel in. We see our hummingbird every day out by our flowering shrubs and in my flower garden.

Adore:
Cat chases bear up tree (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/06/060613-cat-bear.html). Old story, but still. <3

My mother loves hummingbirds and has a feeder.

You know they're doing a sequel to Elizabeth, with Cate Blanchett and everything, and it's all about the Spanish Armada?

Two friends since I've known since HS are visiting me Saturday evening through Monday morning - I haven't seen them since Christmas time so it'll be nice - we're going to the Virgin Festival in Baltimore on Sunday so that should be fun though trying to figure out the details of actually getting there and back has been nervewracking and wished it was settled already rather than my friend calling me up last night about it.

I did have a good time and was totally exhausted after! Managed to sunburn my head a bit but now it's much better.

The green thing is part of the main Terminus logo and represents train
tracks to indicate travel and all. It's a bit harder to see it probably because the Chicago skyline is missing *uses icon with full Terminus logo*

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

I need to go to all o'dem new places and friend people, though I doubt it will make a ton of difference. I think my porn for HP will just live at RS, and for Idol I have no idea, and that will perhaps be that.

I have been obsessed with this cobb salad I had when Heidi was here that had avocado in it, and I've recreated it and been eating it most of the summer. So I've been eating a lot of avocado. Luckily my local green market has it fresh and also ripe.
