Dressing up

My biggest sign of coming out of a mini-depression is an overwhelming urge to do some serious cleaning—which I often need to do, as when I'm depressed I let the heavy cleaning go. To say this place needed a good dusting would be an understatement. But many more things are back in their appropriate places, and there are a few more to go.

My friend R invited me out dancing tonight at a fetish club, an invitation I was happy to accept not only because I haven't been dancing in ages—probably haven't danced since blackholly and theoblack's New Year's party, which is a crime—and also because my knee-high boots, which I bought some years ago, finally fit. Yay losing weight and fitting into boots! They have a 2" heel but it's very square and really quite comfortable. I'm not usually a napper but I'm feeling a disco nap in my future.

These two things together mean that I've been cleaning my house in a bra, short shorts, and boots. The cat, however, is unimpressed.

No, but I put that in the same category as the kind of dancing I do all the time, whether miniature dance parties in my apartment or spontaneous dancing with calloocallay in her kitchen or bouncing around with ali_wildgoose on a subway platform. Bursts of dancing to one song or less = Thing I Do All the Time Because My Friends Are Awesome.

I need to go buy more Swiffers because I went right through them! So the rest of the dusting may have to wait.

I hate that whole cycle because you're all woe, so you don't clean, and then things aren't clean and you're like, woe, am incapable, and then on top of that, woe, sign of depression, and it's all woe until suddenly it's not. Stupid brain chemistry.

I, however, AM impressed. What was your cleaning soundtrack? I find naughty cleaning outfits are enhanced by disco music. But that may be just me.

A friend from Oz zipped me the new Crowded House cd which comes out here tomorrow so I've been listening to a lot of that, actually. And the always cracktastic Goodbye Charlie (I spoke of my love of it here (http://jlh.livejournal.com/139063.html)) was on Fox Movies so I had that on for part of it. Then for my disco nap I didn't really nap but, like when I was a kid, had very quiet time laying still in bed, watching Seven Samurai which I'd Tivo'd off of channel 13 the other night. You really can't clean and watch a movie with subtitles.

Sometimes you just gotta dance. I love dancing. I also have not danced since the party. I did march and do kung fu but dancing is more fun.
