Well, it's about that time. I like to be spoiler free for pretty much everything, and so I'm turning off anonymous commenting and screening comments from non-friends in order to avoid being spoiled for Deathly Hallows. I consider spoilers to be anything that can't be found on the cover of the book, so the cover picture and the blurb are fine, and theories of course are fine, but anything else, I don't want to hear about.

I'm getting the book at midnight and should have it read on Saturday so I'll cut everything I'm saying about the book once I've read it for probably a good month or two.

I know a couple of people who were spoiled for HBP in non-HP comms and there's someone doing that right now in some non-HP comm so I've chucked nearly all of them off my flist filter, sad though that makes me. Hey, it's only 2 1/2 weeks, right?

Oh man, ALREADY? O_O

I should probably turn off anon commenting, too.....

Well, the books have been printed and are already arriving at some bookstores. That's a whole bunch of people (printers/shippers/truck drivers/loaders/booksellers) with opportunity, alas.

Well, I don't think the people initially acquiring spoilers are trying to be dicks. It's just the people who are like, "WOO! I FOUND SOME SPOILERS ONLINE AND HARRY POTTER SUCKS SO IT WOULD BE HILARIOUS IF I RUINED IT FOR A BUNCH OF PANSIES BY POSTING THIS IN A LARGE, UNRELATED LJ COMM."

Well, people are welcome to spoil themselves all they like! It's the latter group I'm referring to -- that video of the guys who drove up to a huge line for Book 6 and shouted "SNAPE KILLED DUMBLEDORE" out the window is probably one of the most UN-FUNNY fandom-related things I've ever seen. -_-

God, I know. I would find it horrible if this were just an adult book, but come on - what the hell is hilarious about ruining something for a bunch of ten-year-olds?

Especially ten-year-olds who care enough about a book to wait in line for hours to buy it the night it comes out.

You're reminding me that I need to do this, too. I didn't get spoiled for HBP on a non-HP comm - instead, I got spoiled while making review threads over on FA by an ad at the bottom of someone's review board! I'm still a bit disgruntled over that, truth be told. Sigh.

Can you rec a good place in Manhattan to get the book? I didn't think we'd be in town, but it looks like we will be here on Friday night.

I'm trying to be spoiler-free too. I've turned off everyone else's images/icons on my friends page and all the comms I'm in. I might have to stop reading all my comms too. Hmmm. *teeth chatter*
