  1. There's all this poo going on at LJ, and it makes me sad, but I don't have anything coherent to say about it and I reject the expectation that I should, as I often do. Also I'm annoyed that I forgot the password to my greatestjournal and apparently never verified the email address. But you know, whatever; fandom came to LJ in a lump and if it decides to leave in a lump it will go someplace or other. I don't have a huge need to be an early adopter in any of these things. FWIW, I bought a permanent account when they were going around two years ago, before I went back to school. Though it makes me sort of jumpy to even say that; I'm beginning to feel as overwhelmed and pressured by the language on my flist as I do by the actions of the pressure group. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out [livejournal.com profile] metafandom.)
  2. For the same reasons, I seriously don't have an opinion on fanlib. It will do what it does. We will do what we do.
  3. I didn't like AWE. Actually, I probably shouldn't have seen the second or third Pirates movies, because I was mostly bored by the first one and because my total hatred of Keira Knightley is epic. But thinking about it, there were two reasons that I didn't love the movies. One, I'm not big on really long fight scenes—after a while I get bored and want to get on with some plot already. Two, I don't like Jack. I know, I know, I'm supposed to love him and think his amorality and unreliability are charming or whatever, but I don't; I just find him selfish and obnoxious and not someone I would want to know. I was very pleased by Will's arc as I always really loved him as a character, so in that sense I was happily surprised and fairly satisfied.
  4. Ending on a positive note, I continue to love How I Met Your Mother and I wish that more of you were watching it because it is made of awesome! Hence, I will choose an awesome icon from that show.

They never seemed to give us anymore HIMYM after series 1 here in the UK. It's incredibly annoying though I do keep scanning the late night schedules for it as they did their best to hide even series 1. Eventually I will cave and find another way to get my fix but I don't understand why such a genius show hasn't been bought over here.

Bummer! Maybe it wasn't a hit on your air, or they just have been having trouble finding room for it? The season just ended here and it was as big a success this season as it was last season, so I doubt it was anything on our end. I know it's around online, as a friend of mine has been watching it that way. I will only say, the season was the same well-written and well-acted joy that it was last year and I'm super looking forward to season three!

Also, I heart Ted. YAY for HIMYM fans!

...are you sure we weren't born joined at the brain and weren't separated at birth and have just never found each other until now? That certainly explains my questionable taste in music: you got all the genes for musical taste. And I got the genes for the geeky love of long convoluted fight scenes.

I...kinda got the short end of the stick there, didn't I...

Hee, I love that the Will fans are pleased. Jack/Elizabeth people make me woeful. I didn't realize you didn't care for KK though!

And I don't think liking fight scenes is the short end of the stick at all! I'd rather like them and not be bored!

Yay for Will's storyline coming to a satisfying conclusion! *waves little flag adorned with skull and crossbones*

Jack/Elizabeth people make me woeful

They make me gnash my teeth and want to spork things. :P

KK drives me nuts. I did not, amazingly, mind her all that much in the third movie, but I think that was because most of the time events and other characters in her scenes sort of drowned her out. I mean. She spent so much time sharing the screen with Geoffrey Rush who is only the best pirate ever. That helped.

Other than that, augh she's annoying. R.e. your icon, I can't bring myself to see her version of Pride and Prejudice because just the thought of watching KK prance around slaughtering that character makes my teeth hurt.

I'd rather like them and not be bored!

Hee! But then you'd end up watching really horrible, awful movies just because it looks like the fight scenes will be cool. And then occasionally people would find out that you watched those really low-brow, brainless action flicks, and then you'd have to admit that you watched them just because, you know, cool fight scenes! (Or sometimes, cool car chases!) And that's just mortifying. *g*

So oddly, I just found Veronica Mars S2 and HIMYM S1 for $19.99 on amazon today. Woo!

I haven't seen any of the PotC movies. I think I would like them, but my friends list was completely oversaturated with people posting in pirate talk after the first one and I got irritated. On Sunday, a guy came into my work dressed as Jack Sparrow, doing the stupid finger thing, trying to get as much attention as possible. Arrrr.

Let me know about any extra features on HIMYM!

This is what I'd say about PotC: See the first one. If you dearly love the characters, see the other two. If you just thought it was a lot of fun, then cut your losses. But the first one is absolutely worth seeing.

Well, the special features are nothing to write home about. There's a making of which is not boring but not fascinating, and a blooper reel which is funny but, you know, everyone has the blooper real. On the other hand, there are several commentaries that feature all five of the cast members, which I suspect are going to be pretty funny. Mostly the making of is your typical, "Well, we wanted Alyson Hannigan right away" and "We loved Freaks and Geeks so we really wanted Jason Segel." There's also a bit of information on NPH's audition, with all the directors/writers being like, "Yeah, so, Neil Patrick Harris was not who we were thinking of at all..."
