It's all about the Jerz
May. 1st, 2007 11:02 pmYou know in that GnR video where they're flashing that "Where's Izzy?" sign? I kinda wanted someone to have a "Where's Richie?" sign. Well, maybe tomorrow night. Meanwhile OMG Ryan is HAWT when he pairs stubble and an open necked shirt with trousers that actually fit.
So true story: When I was at Nimbus,
ali_wildgoose,
aegeus and I drove over to the grocery store and on the way back this song came on the radio and I sang it at the top of my lungs, of course, because it was THE song my senior year of high school and when we got back to the hotel Ali and Aegy were just staring at me, open mouthed, and I was like, what?
[Poll #977044]
For the record I voted 20x Melinda, 15x Blake, 10x Chris, 10x Jordin.
So true story: When I was at Nimbus,
- Phil, "Blaze of Glory." Oh, I fear for Chris because this was pretty good. He still totally bores me, but he sounded fucking amazing. I'm not sure he really "made the song his own" but kinda who cares except Simon? The only thing is, I'd much rather hear Chris sing disco than Phil.
- Jordin, "Living on a Prayer." Love the shout to to Gina. However, this was not great. It was like a Disney movie or one of those made-fors where Shannon Doherty is in a band or something. I liked the hair and the makeup but I really didn't like the shoes. She's not out—it takes more than one bad week for folks to kick out a singer they love—but she definitely came up against her limitations.
- Lakisha, "This Ain't a Love Song." Smart choice! (I love that the awesome power of Lakisha made both JBJ and Cresty black momentarily.) She was awesome. I'm not sure that means she isn't going home because it looks like a popularity contest at this point, and Randy was right that the start was a bit rough. We'll see.
- Blake, "You Give Love a Bad Name." That was fucking awesome. Winner or no, his is the CD I am looking forward to buying. I might actually purchase this track from the itunes store. Yes, friends, that's how good it was.
- Chris, "Wanted Dead or Alive."
allysonsedai remarked that he oozed sex and my god he did. As Simon said, he did as much as he could with that song, I mean, he worked it OUT and if his loverroommate hadn't been so amazing he would have gotten a better response, I think. - Melinda, "Have a Nice Day." Hello Tina Turner. Why was she even worried? She was totally amazing. I am voting for her 20 times, because I have Cingular.

Date: 2007-05-02 02:26 pm (UTC)Please, God, please let it be LaKisha and Phil. Otherwise, I (along with the rest of LJ) will have a personal meltdown of epic proportions.

Date: 2007-05-02 03:17 am (UTC)I honestly think Chris might be in some trouble this week. I voted for him 15 times (I, er, voted for Blake about 25x or so - yes, I am a fangirl!) but even so, I'm rather nervous. I kind of think Lakisha might be the other one in some trouble, but it's really hard to judge, especially since they're combining the votes from last week with the votes from this week. All I can say is that I'm really glad I don't have to close tomorrow night so I'll be able to watch the show firsthand.

Date: 2007-05-02 06:01 am (UTC)I dunno, the hour long results shows can be really brutal, and now that they're not teasing Idol Gives Back I'm not sure what the hell they'll be doing. I mean, group song, JBJ song, eliminations, Cresty's stupid man at the Farmer's Market, that leaves about 20 minutes of program time for random bullshit. So it's more increasing racheting up of OH NO.

Date: 2007-05-02 06:19 am (UTC)What amazes me about Blake is that he's been able to get through what were really tough weeks for him while only barely grazing the bottom three, and he's clearly the best musician on this show, maybe the best instinctive musician this show has ever had. Sligh was willing to fuck with things, but he often made them sort of more boring and took their actual spirit out of them, while when Blake rearranges, the essential core of the song remains. I don't know if he'll make the finals, but I am easily more excited about his recording career than I ever have been about really any single person who has walked across that stage.
