You know in that GnR video where they're flashing that "Where's Izzy?" sign? I kinda wanted someone to have a "Where's Richie?" sign. Well, maybe tomorrow night. Meanwhile OMG Ryan is HAWT when he pairs stubble and an open necked shirt with trousers that actually fit.

So true story: When I was at Nimbus, [livejournal.com profile] ali_wildgoose, [livejournal.com profile] aegeus and I drove over to the grocery store and on the way back this song came on the radio and I sang it at the top of my lungs, of course, because it was THE song my senior year of high school and when we got back to the hotel Ali and Aegy were just staring at me, open mouthed, and I was like, what?

  1. Phil, "Blaze of Glory." Oh, I fear for Chris because this was pretty good. He still totally bores me, but he sounded fucking amazing. I'm not sure he really "made the song his own" but kinda who cares except Simon? The only thing is, I'd much rather hear Chris sing disco than Phil.
  2. Jordin, "Living on a Prayer." Love the shout to to Gina. However, this was not great. It was like a Disney movie or one of those made-fors where Shannon Doherty is in a band or something. I liked the hair and the makeup but I really didn't like the shoes. She's not out—it takes more than one bad week for folks to kick out a singer they love—but she definitely came up against her limitations.
  3. Lakisha, "This Ain't a Love Song." Smart choice! (I love that the awesome power of Lakisha made both JBJ and Cresty black momentarily.) She was awesome. I'm not sure that means she isn't going home because it looks like a popularity contest at this point, and Randy was right that the start was a bit rough. We'll see.
  4. Blake, "You Give Love a Bad Name." That was fucking awesome. Winner or no, his is the CD I am looking forward to buying. I might actually purchase this track from the itunes store. Yes, friends, that's how good it was.
  5. Chris, "Wanted Dead or Alive." [livejournal.com profile] allysonsedai remarked that he oozed sex and my god he did. As Simon said, he did as much as he could with that song, I mean, he worked it OUT and if his lover roommate hadn't been so amazing he would have gotten a better response, I think.
  6. Melinda, "Have a Nice Day." Hello Tina Turner. Why was she even worried? She was totally amazing. I am voting for her 20 times, because I have Cingular.
Re Blake's hair: I really like it. As you can see in the stuff with JBJ, his highlights badly needed touching up anyway. Which makes me think of how back when Ryan still had them Simon was always nagging him to redo them. I wonder if Simon misses the blond hair?

[Poll #977044]

For the record I voted 20x Melinda, 15x Blake, 10x Chris, 10x Jordin.

I couldn't bring myself to answer the first question. I HAVE NO IDEA. *mimblewimble*

Me neither! I so totally cannot call this. I don't think it's Jordin, Melinda or Blake, but after that, who the final member of the final four is, I do not know. I do know that I'd rather not hear Phil sing some fucking Bee Gees song.

*sigh* I really, sincerely wish that I had never heard Phil sing ever, to begin with. And I'm really pissed off that he insisted on doing well last night, so now the chances of him getting voted off are a lot less than I thought they were.

Please, God, please let it be LaKisha and Phil. Otherwise, I (along with the rest of LJ) will have a personal meltdown of epic proportions.

Hee, I actually made a post regarding AI simply because of Blake. Because he rocked. Like a mad, mad, rocking thing. I love him terribly. ♥ And I'm with you on the CD thing - I will definitely be purchasing that the instant it comes out. So much love.

I honestly think Chris might be in some trouble this week. I voted for him 15 times (I, er, voted for Blake about 25x or so - yes, I am a fangirl!) but even so, I'm rather nervous. I kind of think Lakisha might be the other one in some trouble, but it's really hard to judge, especially since they're combining the votes from last week with the votes from this week. All I can say is that I'm really glad I don't have to close tomorrow night so I'll be able to watch the show firsthand.

It sucks when I don't have a clear sense of last week's votes. There are too many moving parts for me to make a prediction this week. If Chris goes I'll be soooooooo sad. If Kiki goes, not so much. But if the two of them go I'll be kind of annoyed because I'd rather hear either of them sing Bee Gees than Phil, who will probably something awful.

I dunno, the hour long results shows can be really brutal, and now that they're not teasing Idol Gives Back I'm not sure what the hell they'll be doing. I mean, group song, JBJ song, eliminations, Cresty's stupid man at the Farmer's Market, that leaves about 20 minutes of program time for random bullshit. So it's more increasing racheting up of OH NO.

I haven't been such a fan of Blake the past few weeks - his unadorned singing doesn't stand out at this stage - but I have to join the chorus tonight. It was a great mix of singing and style, which he has trouble balancing sometimes. Loved him, loved Melinda, enjoyed Lakisha, grudgingly accepted Phil, winced for Jordin, didn't like Chris at all.

I actually was surprised that Chris could find any grit in his voice whatsoever. I think I came in with low expectations.

What amazes me about Blake is that he's been able to get through what were really tough weeks for him while only barely grazing the bottom three, and he's clearly the best musician on this show, maybe the best instinctive musician this show has ever had. Sligh was willing to fuck with things, but he often made them sort of more boring and took their actual spirit out of them, while when Blake rearranges, the essential core of the song remains. I don't know if he'll make the finals, but I am easily more excited about his recording career than I ever have been about really any single person who has walked across that stage.

I really felt Maybe I'll be Saturday Night was missing here. That song was made for a show like this, with the slow start and huge finish. OTOH there was no one who could have really pulled it off. Bo is the closest I can imagine.

Good call, but yeah, no rock boys left. In fact, no rock boys in the top 24 even, IIRC, and that surprised me as Daughtry was so successful and you know that he showed up because of Bo, so I figured that there would be more rock boys, but maybe they're still too worried about their cred.

What did you think of Blake? Also, call me; there's someone I want you to meet before you flee for the left coast.

Is it me or does Ryan seem to HATE Phil? He's so uncomfortable with him up on stage. That laugh was totally a laugh of "I. Can't. Stand. it." And I don't think I've seen him remove his arms from someone's shoulders faster than that since Dunkleman.

OMG the face touching!! GAH!

Bout time someone called Chris on his Timberfakeness too.

I caught Melinda doing Have A Nice Day on a 60-inch plasma screen at a local retailer. Man, did she ever ROCK! I'm sorry I missed the others, but as I strained to listen to the recaps at the end, I thought they all sounded pretty good. *runs away* At least we didn't have to put up with Sanjaya attempting to sing Bon Jovi or whatever.

Because of you I torrented this episode - and I gotta say, Blake fuggin' ruled. Maybe it was just the hair I hated... and not actually him?
