Idol is a giver, not a taker!
Apr. 24th, 2007 11:40 pmLet's all give thanks for Ryan's stubble, and Simon's cleavage of course. I don't fully understand Ryan's control room fetish; it's like he wants to be simultaneously back stage and on stage at all times. As for the Africa footage, it's a comfort to know that Simon is always Simon, and when he sees something he thinks is dreadful, he just says so, and then Ryan is like, dude, you can't just walk out.

- Chris, "Change the World." He was pretty good. I mean, given this show, I'm not really sure what is going to happen, but he sounded a lot better than last week certainly. And Chris, well, he's just Chris, isn't he?
- Melinda, "There Will Come a Day." Well, this is the closest I'm going to get to the big damn gospel song I wanted. Melinda is made of awesome. I adore her. Weird dress though.
- Blake, "Imagine." Simon was right, it fairly dripped with sincerity, which is all it really could do. I mean, I get it? But it was a really obvious and therefore tricky song to do. That said, it means a lot to a lot of people and he did it proud. Hopefully next week we will be able to get back to seeing him being ridiculous, because two ballads in a row is like, a lot.
- Lakisha, "I Believe." You know, I'm just so over her. I don't know what that's about; I guess that she hasn't really changed or grown or stepped out of her comfort zone or done anything particularly interesting since, well, since the semis almost.
- Phil, "The Change." Wow, Phil actually wasn't boring. He was pretty good again tonight.
- Jordin, "You'll Never Walk Alone." Okay, this is the thing. I hate Carousel, and I've never liked this song, because of what it means in Carousel and where it is and all of that. Never mind that it then became this song that all these people covered in the 60s, and I sort of grew up on the Elvis version. (Hey, my mother is a fan, step back.) Jordin sounded great (if a little sharp), I voted for her, she's got no worries, but I still hate this fucking song.

Date: 2007-04-25 04:22 am (UTC)It's SO MUCH FUN! It's basically like karaoke, and you have to use your voice to follow this weird arrow thing at the bottom (that's what you're 'judged' on), and when you're done singing everyone tells you how awful you were! Simon is just typical Simon ("that was appalling"), but Randy is way meaner than in real like and so is "Laura." That's the funniest part... Paula is this girl named Laura who looks and sounds a little like Paula but clearly is not her. Simon and Randy, on the other hand, did their own voices. Paula must have a pwecious contract that let her avoid being captured in a video game?
As for tonight, I agree with you about LaKisha. She's been boring me for a while now. I continue to like Jordin and Melinda the most.

Date: 2007-04-25 07:03 am (UTC)Clearly I'm missing some serious stuff by not being able to watch on a regular basis. When did Simon become Simone?

Date: 2007-04-26 01:28 am (UTC)But I wanted to say--Carousel so creeps me out as a show. Just creeps me out. I saw Barbara Cook once and she was laughing about how she did one song from the 50s and had to call the lyricist to ask him to re-write a verse because dude, what was up with spousal abuse being romantic in the 50s??
Idol totally got to me. I'm donating.
