Magical Elves first. So Tom Colicchio was the guest judge on Top Design last week, but didn't do a guest blog because he's busy on the new season of Top Chef which according to Bravo will be coming "later this summer." Now, the dumb hair cutting show, Shear Genius, comes on when Top Design ends in mid-April and will run for 12 weeks or so, meaning that the new Top Chef will start sometime in July.

What does this mean for you? No Project Runway until at least the fall, is what it means. Dang! Oh Tim Gunn, how we miss you.

Meanwhile, last night on Top Design, we said goodbye to Goil and while I'm sad, I'd noticed in the past four challenges or so his tendency to get hung up on details and not be able to see the bigger picture or manage his time well. I'm backing Matt for the win! I also think that the problem with this show is that they haven't worked out how to edit the show so that we can understand what was going on with the challenges or really see how the room went from concept through execution to end result. I'm not sure if that's because a room is too much to take in at a glance, or what, but it's definitely an easier show to deal with when there are fewer designers.

Idol: It was the right elimination. At this rate Sanjaya will not be voted off until the top 5 or so, though I would love him to be gone by the Idol Gives Back because I cannot stand the idea of him singing some "inspirational" song and being on the same stage as Bono.

When is that, btw? The Bono thingy?

I think at the end of April, but it says in big letters on americanidol.com.

My 8-year-old was COMPLETELY distraught by the elimination on American Idol. That was his favorite person. I have no idea why, though I think E liked him because he was nice yet quirky. Or something like that. At any rate, he howled that it was all Simon's fault because Simon was mean and didn't want anyone who looked weird to win. *pats child*

Incidentally, the look Simon gave Ryan when the latter came onto the stage with the faux mohawk on? I was all, ohhhhhh, now I see where people see the S/R. Total look of "isn't my boyfriend the CUTEST THING IN THE WORLD?"

I had also forgotten that Heidi is in Blow Dry, heh. But I am so sad re Tim. Maybe it's being held up by Nina's new baby or Tim's new job or summat.

The more you watch the more you'll see, because Simon spends pretty much the entire show looking for Ryan and then staring at him—during the performances, while the other judges are talking, it's ridiculous.
