I'm sad—since both Peter Noone and Lulu sang tonight, there was no time for the cracktastic group song. The Ford ad was dumb. Peter Noone and Lulu sounded perfectly fine and I sincerely hope they rake it in on their upcoming tour.
Also now that I saw it last night I can't shake how many of Ryan's mannerisms are Johnny-like, especially that tendency he has to put his hands in his pockets and sit back on his heels while his jacket is still buttoned.
So how could I possibly have been the only one who called Stephanie as leaving tonight? She was always on the bubble for the top 12 in the first place. Those of you voting for Sanjaya, I just want to give you a hug and a chocolate, and some earplugs: if season 3 John Stevens (the redhead), season 4 Andrew (A-Fed) and season 5 Kevin (Chicken-Little) were any indication, Sanjaya will be with us for a while. I'm just hoping that he'll be out by Also, today Dan Patrick pointed out on his show that as the top 10 will be going out on tour, and a lot of the attendees on that tour are teen girls (I went to the SYTYCD tour and it was also mostly teen girls) they want Sanjaya on that tour, hence the soft pedalling last night of their criticisms. I'm not sure that was it, as usually these folks go when Simon stops beating them up. I'm just hoping he's out before the charity Inspiration-fest, because that would just be gross.
However, back to Stephanie and Chris Richardson as the bottom 2. They definitely prove the TWoP thesis, that the voters vote out the boring first before the bad. Stephanie wasn't bad, just a bit dull and forgettable. Chris was actually very good, but suffered from being early in the show, singing a song no one really knows, and coming immediately after the energetic and barely dressed Haley. His fans will be all energized for next week, and we'll lose either Gina or Phil unless someone fucks up. I imagine that LaKisha, Melinda, Jordin, Sligh, and Blake are safe for a while unless their fans get cocky, and hopefully the specter of Jennifer Hudson will keep them voting.
Also, note that the three black girls that sang Shirley Bassey songs are still there. So I guess they were right.
Oh, and the crying girl? A plant, according to the LA Times.

Laughed a lot for Brad Garrett though.
