Your Rymon moment of the evening:
Ryan: The things we've all done to that song! Memories, huh?
Simon: What have you done?

You've gotta love that when everyone else was applauding Jennifer Hudson, Simon was congratulating himself.
  1. Phil sings "Missing You" which is a harder song to do well than you think, because John Waite is a better singer than you think (until you try to sing one of his songs, that is). The backup singers sounded like ass. Phil sounded sort of odd, to me, in a way I can't really place. I also hate the white shirt.
  2. Jared sings "Let's Get It On" and as Simon said, it was corny. Paula pervs all over Jared. Simon and Ryan flirt as above. I like Jared, but this may be race pride. Let's go mixed!
  3. AJ sings "I'm Feeling Good" and I'm feeling that his voice is a little too light for it, at least until the end. It's like, why didn't you sing it that way the whole time? Also, watch that "I'm at a gay club" hand gesturing.
  4. Sanjaya, I'm beginning to worry that you are this year's pointless, super young, for the grandmas contestant, whom Simon always hates. He tried to swing "Stepping Out" and got behind the music, and that hat made him unrecognizable.
  5. Chris Sligh sings "Trouble." You know, he's kinda cute but he needs better fitting trousers. Simon says that he, too, has been saved by the love of a woman, and then Ryan proves that he is a total girl by asking Chris's wife how could she not cry while listening to her husband sing to her.
  6. Nick actually did a great job with "Fever." Sounded great with the raspy tone of his voice.
  7. Blake had a slightly shaky start to "Virtual Insanity" but he had fun with it and sounded great, especially with the little scat interlude. I think that Simon's critique was right, but I wouldn't say that it was disappointing.
  8. Brandon sings "Time After Time" and he doesn't quite touch me. Randy and Simon were right, that Brandon needs to really make an impact on us. (Well, I'll vote for him anyway, but I wish he'd shut up. He needs to tell me with his singing voice, not his speaking voice—be less cerebral about it!)
  9. Chris Richardson sings "Geek in the Pink" and really has to work on his breathing, but manages to mostly stay on top of the song's tricky rhythms. I wish he'd lay off on the JT hand gestures though.
  10. I FUCKING HATE MUSTANG SALLY. That said, Sundance Head was, you know, fine.
My favs: Nick, both Chris's, and Blake.
