Okay, for those who don't know the drill: Polls come at the finals. Until then it's just too many goddamned people. However, now that they're singing for our votes, thoughts under the cut. So who are YOU voting for? Who do YOU think will be gone come Thursday? Do tell!

Okay, is that shirt vest combo Ryan's rocking actually a one-piece? Because that vest is soooo tight. (God, he's such a twink; he has almost negative pecs, seriously.) Blah blah blah judges blah blah blah. I saw them on Leno last night where they indulged in the usual who's gay today banter that centered around Ryan dating David, Simon's supermodel ex, or something. Also, are ALL these boys wearing jeans? And could all these songs be played on your local "soft and easy favorites of yesterday and today" station?
  1. Rudy, in jeans, and unfortunately a denim blazer, sings "Free Ride." He sounds good and at least it's uptempo. We'll need that energy as we slog through this night of ballads. Randy and Simon were right in that it was corny, dated and won't stand out at the end of the night. (Aww, Ryan wants Rudy and Simon to be friends.)
  2. Brandon, in jeans, takes criticism incredibly well, actually. "Rock With You"
  3. Sundance Head, what were you thinking with that awful song? However, no jeans, so that's a way to stand out I guess.
  4. Paul, cute Asian guy, sings "Careless Whisper" ill-advisedly. He's got the jeans, but he doesn't seem to have the pitch, and omg, could his parents be more San Jose?
  5. Chris Richardson, um, Elliot sang this song last year and everyone remembers that. And you don't sound that great. I mean, I can sing this song better than that. But his totally dorky dad seemed to enjoy it, so that's cute. Oh, and yes, jeans.
  6. Nick, put the Richard Marx down and walk away slowly. "Now and Forever"? Jeans, check, but please don't wear gray on television.
  7. Blake, our friend the beat boxer, gets them to clap to a Keane song? No jeans, but a pretty good version of "Somewhere Only We Know" which unfortunately isn't that exciting a song, but at least it was written in the last few years, so he has that going for him.
  8. Sanjaya also sings a song that Elliot sang—"Knocks Me Off My Feets" by Stevie Wonder—and not well at all, but hey, he's wearing jeans!
  9. Chris Sligh is wearing jeans and a leather tie, sings "Typical," sounds fantastic, insults and is insulted by Simon, leading him to take it out on Ryan by calling him "sweetheart" and having a whole little side fight about that. Ah, American Idol, we are back.
  10. Jared sings "Back to One," in his jeans, does a perfectly nice job, and manages to look like the really nice captain of the basketball team most popular guy in your high school class. If he were a girl, I'd say he was Miss America material.
  11. AJ, jeans, "All My Love," Paula dancing, girls love it, he does great, but the song isn't that exciting, either.
  12. Phil in jeans, but no hat and he really needs to keep the hat as his ears are a little pointy. After a shaky start on "I Could Not Ask For More" he completely worked it out and sounded fantastic.
My favs: Chris Sligh, Blake, and Phil.

The "sweetheart" and the pedicure stuff were the highlights tonight cuz everyone was boring.
Though, Snazzy Ryan was throwing me off with his aggressive I Am So Straight! comments.

My faves tonight were Blake, Chris S. (who needs to back off with the smart ass remarks to Simon until they are needed) and Rudy had me tapping my toes even though I couldn't understand a word he was saying. And Sanjaya gets my Chicken Little vote this year. He's so sweet and cute, but watching the judges comment on him was painful.

I hope Sundance and Paul are gone on Thurs.

That really is a fantastic icon.

Ryan is so panicky on the boy-nights that I want to give him a hug and a clementine and pat his ickle head. Anything to get him to calm down. He wouldn't seem quite so gay if he wasn't so panicked about it. Like, Anderson Cooper? Doesn't care. Isn't stressed. But Ryan phears slipping. It's too bad; last year at least he had Ace and that kept him calmer.

I find that I have no time for Sundance at all.

Thanks. :D

Poor Ryan, he does make you wanna hug him. Just take him home, sit him down, and rub his feet. I can't imagine how stressed that boy is at the end of the day.

And I don't know what the hell to make of Sundance. I thought he rocked in his audition, but anytime after that he's just been one big pile of sweaty suck.

My favs are also Phil and Chris Sligh. The other Chris has just got to go. Paul going barefooted absolutely revolted me. I adore Sanjaya -- it's unfortunate that he was so meek tonight.

Um, yeah. I couldn't quit thinking about how nasty the floor was and how he was going to have grocery store feet to even listen to him sing. No great loss there, though.

And Clio, did you see Ryan try and flirt with the girls? Like, he tried to give them a smoldering gaze and then saunter off? Hysterical.

At this point, Ryan is rapidly moving past come out already and into pathetic. It's unfortunate that his personal idol is Merv Griffin, since that man never really came out, either. I would feel better if I knew he was getting some. I fret for him, I really do.

Seriously, what is with you two and the bare feet? I love bare feet. My feet are bare as often as possible and my favorite look on a man is a good pair of jeans and nothing else: bare feet, bare chest, good jeans.

Hmmm, well I don't unconditionally hate bare feet. I, myself, kick off my shoes whenever possible... I guess it's not the bare feet that bothered me, but the setting. The nurse in me kicked in and all I could think about was the dirt on the stage[1], and omg, what if there was something sharp?! Heh. I'm neurotic a dork.

[1]Which, you're completely right, the stage is probably not dirty at all. In fact, it was most likely built fairly recently. :)

Oh yeah...

Yeah, I think he hit t hat point with that weird seemingly-staged makeout session with Teri Hatcher.

What is with you guys and the bare feet? I am barefoot as often as I can possibly get away with it, and am a notorious shoe kicker-offer when seated. Stages aren't always that nasty; after all, dancers are barefoot much of the time.

I think Sanjaya has potential and I hope he survives the cut. But wow, dullsville baby. And I'm not sure tonight will be all that much better.

A lot of the boys are very generic, and whatever skills they might have are just going to blend into the background noise. I actually agreed with Simon about Chris Sligh - I like him, but his voice always sounds muffled to me, like he's trying to hide lack of star power behind the performance aspects. I hope he makes it through a little farther so he can prove that he's better.

But hey, what do I know, I haven't followed this show live since the first season. ;-)

Those were my faves as well. I say Sanjaya and Rudy are leaving.

Like Simon said, Rudy was really forgettable. And he's so generic looking, and he went first, so those are two things against him.

Sanjaya, I don't know, he's so ickle, he might get enough "aww" votes to get him through to next week. If he doesn't improve he might not make it to the finals, but we'll see. It's those grandmothers who keep the kids around.

Yeah... I remember Chicken Little from last season.

So. Your thoughts on Melinda and LaKisha? Girls brought it, man.
