I've done both of these before, but I've also loaded a bunch of new stuff on here, so hey, why not do them again.

1Ooh, I should really get six more and have that pleasing round effect.
2Rap albums have all this little interstitial bullshit that apparently is being abandoned now that people just download songs and I say good riddance, man.
3Thank you, Justin Timberlake, for FutureSex/LoveSounds
4Thank you, Death Cab for Cutie
5Thank you, The Look of Love: The Burt Bacharach Collection box set

Step 1: Put your MP3 player on random.
Step 2: Post the first line(s) of the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: NO CHEATING (that goes for the guesser, too!)

Executive decisions: I didn't put in instrumentals (natch), songs not in English, songs that I fucking hate and don't know what they're doing on my iTunes, or two songs by the same artist. My first lines do not include talking at the start of a sung song, but the first sung line. Also, I had to skip "Good Night" by the Beatles because I couldn't find a line without the title in it until like, the fourth or fifth line.
  1. Where are you going, my beautiful friend?
  2. The random aspects of our lives come together once in a while, so blinding and decidedly.
  3. Love, thing of might and dread, stays the savior and poison to all of heart and head.
  4. Sometimes I feel like I shouldn't apologize so much.
  5. I woke up in a SoHo doorway. Who Are You | The Who [livejournal.com profile] aegeus
  6. I am not your señiorita. Raspberry Swirl | Tori Amos [livejournal.com profile] scrabble
  7. Nobody really knows where they're supposed to go.
  8. Won't you believe it, it's just my luck. School | Nirvana [livejournal.com profile] aegeus
  9. Silence and rage, the scars of a daughter.
  10. Inside his brain a tom-tom's pounding absurdly tonight.
  11. … rings like a bell through the night and wouldn't you love to love her? Rhiannon | Fleetwood Mac [livejournal.com profile] alissomora
  12. Dark and rolling figures move through prisms of no color.
  13. Fatal fascination for the seedy part of town. Low Life | The Police [livejournal.com profile] aegeus
  14. Circle high, circle low.
  15. Fooled around enough with numbers.
  16. Passion take the wind and break me from this tie.
  17. I'm told the case is now closed, so I can come to my senses.
  18. All of these insurmountable tasks that lay before me. Love, In Itself | Depeche Mode [livejournal.com profile] aegeus
  19. The nickel dropped when I was on my way beyond the Rubicon. Better Version of Me | Fiona Apple [livejournal.com profile] aegeus

yep!

There is another song on here that I feel you will be the only one to get, which is kind of a huge hint.

Man, I had to google through all those to figure out what you were talking about. I am afraid that's a seldom-listened song by that particular band for me, so there's no way I would have recognised it. However, I was there all, "Is my favourite song ever on here and I'm just too exhausted to see?"

It is a sort of silly song; I never listened to it much either. I think it might be one that no one gets.

Go to bed! I hope writing went well. ^_^

It did! I went from having about 1,000 words that I didn't care for to starting over and now having 6,000 that I feel moderately okay with.

Looked up 14 (am not going to post the name, as that would be cheating) - I haven't really listened to that album much, as I only ripped it off someone recently. My love is not all-encompassing enough. :D

Yeah, it isn't the best track on that record, which is why I said "mildly", though I had thought I'd got the digital tracks from you. I love this album dearly, though yeah, for other songs.

You could very well have gotten them from me, 'recently' is very relative to me - I got them from Seana, so it could well have been quite awhile ago, actually.

Damn, I thought I knew 15 but it turned out I must have been thinking of something else.

And ah, yes, I knew I knew #1, but just couldn't get beyond the starter tune.

Since I googled, I will not post answers. :)

15 is "I Get Wild (Wild Gravity)" by Talking Heads.

Yay, I knew one!

Okay, had a good long think on the train and have come up with some more answers (hopefully correct ones):

5 - Who Are You | The Who (Skipping all the bit at the beginning, are we?)
8 - School | Nirvana
18 - Love, In Itself | Depeche Mode
19 - Better Version | Fiona Apple

All correct, and yes on #5, as it's all the title! So perhaps I should have skipped the song entirely, rather than skipping the first little bit.
