So, I'm probably not going to post that much more about SYTYCD because the [livejournal.com profile] _sytycd_ comm is OMG so awesome and I've seen most of you over there anyway. There are a lot of dancers on the comm and they talk about it all so much better than I do, so I encourage you to go over there for your SYTYCD needs. That said, I'm said for the end of Benjelle (at least until the final 4, because I can't imagine they won't both make it to the finals). And wasn't it a lackluster week, choreography-wise? I was really disappointed in Dan's routines because I adore him.

I "wasted" a lot of my evenings this week watching I Love the 70s Volume II. Given fandom and grad school many of the people I interact with on a regular basis are 5-10 years younger than I am (more on that later) but lucid 70s memories are the province of the 30-somethings. My favorite part is always the sports memories (wah, Carlton Fisk willing that ball fair to win Game 6 … only to lose Game 7) because I think sports geeks are adorable. Many times in the past when some guy has wondered how I know so much about movies I've said, "You know that part of your brain where all the sports stats are?" and get not only understanding but respect!

I've also been watching the World Series of Popular Culture. I was doing my usual "I don't fit into geek culture" wibble at [livejournal.com profile] ali_wildgoose and she said, "but you are a geek," and watching this contest I feel like I've recovered my geekiness. This contest, too, felt very X-er oriented (given that it's sponsored by VH1 and EW that isn't surprising) and I was pleased at how many of the answers I knew.

Heat advisory today, and I'm trying to decide if I should walk to school tonight or not. I guess if I take my time, drink water and walk in the shade I'll be okay—by 6 it should be starting to cool down, at least.
