First and most importantly, I have finished a draft of a Ryan/Simon story. Who wants to beta? ETA: Thanks, Jaida! For those of you who need something to tide you over, I wrote this story last spring and the new one is a sequel.

Wow, no one called Bucky this week. I thought he was fine, if mediocre, but unlike with Kevin or Mandisa I was never sure what Bucky's base of support really was. I'm impressed, though not surprised, that Ace can continue to skate along on charm. But for him, we're down to the folks who can really sing, so it really depends on who picks a bad song or just muffs it. No more room for error for anyone. (I can't remember, when do they drop the bottom three thing? As we only have six people left.)

Was it just because I'd spent half the week writing about him having sex or was Ryan particularly darling last night? He was just all flirt and spark with the girls. It was so cute. Also the scruff really really works on him because he's just SO boyish and nonthreatening; he needs an edge.

I don't think I have anything coherent to say about VM. A friend has a compelling, complicated beginning of a good theory having to do with Woody and Beaver and certain kids on the bus that I'm really grooving to. I think we've all been critical of some aspects of this season, for good reason, but additions that I'm loving are the Keith b-plots. It reminds us of how depressed and off his game he was (for good reason) for nearly all of the first season and I love that kind of continuity. I love anyone who can best Veronica (it's a huge part of my Weevil love) and as I watch VM run about it comforts me to know that he has one eye on her. The "that belongs to me" comment when he saw her in the principal's closet? Fabulous. Only four more!

Okay, you know, I am liking Top Chef but there are a few things that need to be tweaked. First, their penchant for weirdo last minute twists is really tiresome. It doesn't make things more interesting; rather, it just pisses off all the chefs and we get 37 interviews of them being pissy. Second, having Tom Collicchio in a combined Michael Kors/Tim Gunn role completely does not work. He can't give the kind of critique that Tim can because he's on the judge's panel—really, the head of the judges panel—so his forays into the kitchen seem to be mostly about freaking them all out midstream. On that same token, what is the point of Katie Lee Joel? Does she really do anything? She's no Heidi that's for damn sure. She rarely has anything to say during the judging and Tom really runs things. Perhaps this is because he's a dominant personality, but they don't quite have the balance right on this show yet. That said, I do like the Tom and Gail combination because Gail always has something interesting to say and they have had great guest judges on the show, too.

As for this week, Miguel cannot go soon enough for me, seriously; what the fuck with that whole thing with Tiffani? And while I want to like Dave, enough with the drama already. I'm pleased that Tiffani and LeeAnn have cooled their rivalry as there was no need of it. But as much as Stephen generally irritates me I was very impressed at the extent to which he stepped up and was a real team player this week. Meanwhile my ickle Harold really needs to catch a break. It's tight because there are four very strong chefs and only three final spots. I cannot imagine that Dave or Miguel will stage an upset, so the question really is, of LeeAnn, Tiffani, Harold and Stephen, who won't make it to the end? Me, I hope that's Stephen.

God, all these shows will be ending; no TV for me this summer. This is probably for the best, really.

Iiiiiiiiii am so glad you said that since you beta'd the first one. I'll send it to you when I get home tonight. Yay! Thanks!

Also, thank you SO MUCH for texting me with the results last night! Next week I'm going to make the VM-ers watch the last 5 minutes of AI so I can get the numbers and vote for Elliott and Kat over and over and over again.
