Ah, Simon and Ryan are back to hostility, which leaves Ryan free to be the GBF to all the girls in the competition, except when he has to play referee for the judges. Can someone get Paula into treatment, please? Meanwhile can someone get Simon some class so he stops baiting her? My GOD that man hates to be wrong, and both he and Paula can be so childish. I'm with Ryan on this one. We are not amused.
Watching these little filmed packages with the singers and coaches I keep thinking, my God I'm glad Gedeon wasn't a finalist because can you imagine watching him doing all this stuff? ugh. Also, whoever that stylist is who keeps putting the girls in hip belts needs to be shot like, last Tuesday.
Why has Barry Manilow been all up in my stuff all spring? What is that about? And good god how much work has that man had done? Still, he's pretty amazing as an arranger which I'm not sure he gets enough credit for. I'm also pleased that no one picked some goddamned Elvis song; there was a lot more going on musically in the fifties than early rock.
Bottom three: Bucky, Lisa and someone or other.

- Mandisa, "I Don't Hurt Anymore." There are no words. She's fucking amazing. Also? Gorgeous.
- Bucky, "Oh Boy." Simon was 100% right. I was totally bored. There is nothing interesting about Bucky like, at ALL.
- Paris, "Fever." First, she looks great. It's a deceptively tough song to sing and nitpick-wise, I felt she didn't enunciate the words enough. Randy was right that she started off a little weak but I thought she did a fantastic job.
- Chris, "I Walk the Line." First, is his facial hair really going to change every week? Also, could everyone else hear that in that first verse there was no way the low note was in his range? But the arrangement was amazing and he was powerful in that slow burn way. As Simon said, no compromises. And Ryan made him blush.
- Katharine, "Come Rain or Come Shine." I do love this song. (Is it just me or is she working the Catherine Zeta-Jones vibe? However, what an awful dress. What is the matter with these stylists?) She's just amazing isn't she?
- Taylor, "Not Fade Away." Taylor, I'm begging you to stop dancing. Seriously. It wasn't a mess; it just wasn't really that great.
- Lisa, "Why Do Fools Fall In Love?" So, I see the girl singing. I can hear the girl singing. She works hard and sounds great. I just somehow don't care. Also, she strikes some unattractive poses.
- Kevin, "When I Fall in Love." God, I just cannot stand him at all. He was quite flat in rehearsal wasn't he? All Barry was really saying was that Kevin is the perfect little stage robot kid which we kind of already knew. The performance was, well, fine I guess. Whatever, he's never going anyplace; I love how they showed Jasmine in the audience who also wasn't so great and also stayed way longer than she should have.
- Elliott, "Teach Me Tonight." I really have a soft spot in my heart for Elliott which is why I keep voting for him. He just sounds so good and I want to keep hearing as much of him as possible.
- Kellie, "Walking After Midnight." First, Barry Manilow didn't know this song? Hello? Like Bette has never sung this song? She was good, it was good for her, but like, I can sing this song so seriously, whatever.
- Ace, "In the Still of the Night." It's funny that the pop guy sounds like a lightweight since it's supposed to be a pop competition. Brilliant ending though. His brother is still hotter.
Bottom three: Bucky, Lisa and someone or other.

Date: 2006-03-22 06:44 pm (UTC)Having that theme just so they could get the Manilow record tie in was really not worth it. The pop songs from that era are just too tricky. But they all looked really great so you should check that out.

Date: 2006-03-22 01:45 pm (UTC)Anyway, my great love is reserved for Katharine and Elliott (who is seriously a faun from Narnia, I wonder where the hell he hides his ears), so I just keep rooting for them.
As with every season: my babies aren't the big faves, but I hope they'll hang in there good and long.

Date: 2006-03-22 06:51 pm (UTC)I don't dislike Bucky, he just bores me. Yawn city. I want to like Lisa but yeah, she is so not connecting and I'm frustrated for her. Again, I want her to go to college and start a rock band and find her Wendy. I feel this is her actual destiny.
Elliott is a total faun! Why didn't I see that before! Elliott, a continuation of my Tumnus love!
The whole Simon predictions thing got blown up in a really dumb way. I mean, he isn't talking about who he thinks are best, but who he thinks people will keep voting for. Clearly he is absolutely in love with Mandisa and Katharine, and also Chris, but he doesn't think they will actually win for various reasons.
In a comment below is a link for AI icons that includes tons of Katharine and Elliott btw.

Date: 2006-03-22 06:23 pm (UTC)I also really like Elliot, and I voted for him like 10 times. :)
I hate Ace's side smile, it's starting to creep me out. I don't even find him good looking anymore.
Mandisa looked so beautiful, so I voted for her in your little poll. Katharine is always gorgeous.
I wish Mandisa wouldn't scream so much when she sings. I just don't like it. It works for her, I suppose, and it gets the crowd going. She has an amazing voice.
Paris was good, but I didn't think she looked good. I wasn't very impressed with her hair or the color of her dress.
*I'm posting my thoughts here, because I was too lazy to make an actual post.

Date: 2006-03-24 10:58 pm (UTC)I really thought Paris looked amazing. Her hair was so of that era, that sort of conked wavy style. She was looking so Lady Day. Mandisa is a belter, it's true, but the start of the song was much softer and I thought she sounded good there too unlike last week when it started a little shaky. But yeah, belting is what is going to get her votes.
thanks for that icon tip! I also saw her amazing Breakfast at Tiffany's ones!
