Birds Fly (Into My Window)
Feb. 22nd, 2006 12:25 pmI live in a studio apartment with two windows on one end of the room. Because it's a rather hot room, I often have the windows cracked open from the top about eight inches. And because there is ivy growing on the side of my building, there are often birds perching on the fire escape just outside the window next to my bed. Lately, though, the birds have been perching right on the top of the window, where it's open. It isn't unusual, and if I move, or the cat gets too close, they fly away.
Well, friends, this morning the bird flew in. He flew over to the other window but unfortunately that one wasn't open, so now I had a bird flapping against the window at the foot of my bed. Veda, of course, took interest in this; she's a hunting cat by nature and keeps the place mouse-free. Instinct, and experience living in the countryside where bats occasionally get into the house, led me to get out the broom, but after several attempts to lift the bird up to the opening in the window failed I abandoned the broom for my oven mitts, and carefully lifted the bird out the window.
All that, and it wasn't even 7am.
In other news, one thing that keeps irritating me is getting accused of something I haven't even done yet. For example, no, I don't want to steal your icons. I know that naughty people do this but as a general rule I make my own icons. Sometimes friends will make me one and sometimes I will be on a comm and someone will be offering up some good ones and sure, I'll take them up on that offer. But I don't look at anyone else's icons as a shopping cart. That said, it wouldn't occur to me in a GIP to be all, "DON'T YOU BE STEALING THIS AWESOME CLARA BOW ICON F***ERS!" I'm not so egotistical about my mad icon sklz that I think everyone wants mine. Sheesh, it's enough to give a girl a complex.
