VM at 9, PR at 10, dinner before with good friends. What could be better? Oh, and a new PR poll within, along with spoilers, spoilers, spoilers.

Hmm, VM was a little disorienting. Disorienting because suddenly we didn't know everything Veronica knows. Let's hope Rob Thomas doesn't direct another episode for a little while. Some of it was interesting—nice segues and cuing us with the camera—but more of it was a little too clever.

Let's also hope this CW deal means that Rob will get a bigger budget, because the plots he has to contrive in order to write around the limited number of episodes that he can use many of his main characters is getting really old. And really, where is this Duncan as a teen dad thing going? Also, wow, big confirmation that Rob Thomas is a major Veronica/Duncan shipper. Whether or not he thinks they will be together in the end, he clearly feels that they are a good love match. I'm really hoping "Wallace and Rashad go to White Castle" doesn't take us too far off the trail. Like, are we going to get back to the bus?

Speaking of which, my GOD Keith's reaction was heartbreaking, that he just couldn't make it without Veronica. Poor Keith. Well done, Enrico, as always. Other great things: The Logan-Weevil Detective Agency; the growing awesomeness of Lamb; even a second of Cliff is brilliance; the surprising appearance of Astrid and the boy who cheated at poker (gotta love their conservation of characters).

Meanwhile, on Project Runway, wow, what a fall from grace! When they started out following Nick and his pouts I got really concerned; they often spend a lot of camera time on the loser. Thank goodness Daniel V talked him out of that negative head space, because I would be on the floor sobbing if he'd been out this week. I felt glum along with him at the loss of Tarah but so pleased when he rallied, even if he was only in the thick middle. But I worry that Daniel will be loyal to his model, of course, and Tarah will be out only because of the machinations of the ill-fated Zulema.

But Zulema, man oh man, pride goeth. On the blog/podcast Tim noted how uninspired the dress was and I have to agree. A big ho hum. I feel badly that Zulema didn't really connect with anyone else on the show, though. I thought Kara might be out this week; maybe she'll surprise us next week but I doubt it. As Tim said she is the only designer left who hasn't won a challenge, which is certainly a big change from last year! I bet Chloe is alone in her room before too long. (And my god but isn't she tiny! Standing there next to her model in her heels she was still over a foot shorter!)

Speaking of rooms, wow, the four gay boys just keep going strong. With both Andrae and Daniel growing stronger every week, unless Santino crashes and burns they will be the final four. Their dresses were gorgeous and their commentary entertaining. They both seem to have a good perspective on the competition. Quite a recipe for a tense room right at the end!

I can't decide how I feel about Tim's tough love. Deserved, definitely, and spread around very evenly as he's right: folks have been playing it safe and if you're in the bottom two they'll kick out the boring dress rather than the one where the reach exceeded the grasp (as Santino's continued presence illustrates). He definitely has favorites, but I think what he "responds" to most is really passion and hard work, and who doesn't?

So on that note, a three-part poll:

[Poll #660242]

Thanks for playing!

ETA some non-spoilers:

VM: What was with that trailer for Kristen Bell's new (horrible) horror movie? Who runs an entire trailer as an ad except as a stunt? And who for a movie that looks that banal?

PR: Wow, Jay as guest judge added absolutely nothing, didn't he? Nicky Hilton had more interesting opinions!

I didn't see what the "construction" problem was with Zulema's dress, unless it was that the dress seemed to be going between Tarah's legs. Loosing Tarah from the run way will hoover because she always smiles and is only one of the models who really looks human. (At least, I think. I could be wrong of course.)

I don't get why they had Jay there at the end other than to say "here's Jay. Watch his new show. Yay Jay." because really, if he's going to be a judge, he should have been some how involved with the challenge.

I thought Andrae should have won instead of coming in second because though Daniel's was beautiful, it wasn't really that wearable. I mean, who's going to wear a blouse where you're constantly in danger of being beat in the face by your own garment? And the hair styling choice made for Rebekah didn't so much go with the theme of the outfit so much as it detracted from it.

Anyway, back to Andrae, bless his gym shorts wearing soul! He totally won me over this week with the 'taking something others take for granted and making it beautiful'. That's a view point I can understand. Someone on the show said that both Andrae and Daniel did that 'plain to beautiful' thing, but no, not true. Orchids are already beautiful, it takes a little more vision to see beauty in gutter/drain water.

What else? Let me see... Oh! Yes, thank heavens for Nick snapping out of it. Daniel's advice was spot on. Get kicked out for something you did, not because Zulema was a bitch. His dress was ok, and Jay can just hush up.

Kara's dress was lack luster but a step up from Zulema's. Kara could have done so much more.

And I feel the same about Chloe. Chloe's dress was plain and boring. Boring, boring, boring. It looked like a bad Barbie dress thrown together form office paper and crate paper streamers.

Santino bought gorgeous fabric but totally failed to see it's potential through to fruition. I didn't watch season one except for the wedding dress challenge and the final collections, so the other dress was a surprise but my god, it blew Santino's dementia away.

Three cents.

Lamb is awesome, but I feel they almost robbed him of some of the depth he has been recently acquiring by simply turning him back into the idiot... that he always has been. Dunno if that makes any sense. I think Duncan is leaving the show. I base that on nothing except the feeling that there isn't much they can do with him now in this situation... which is good, because the angsty elevator scene at the beginning is really where this show needs to be headed. "Hi ho."

Also this plot was even more mary sue than usual: Veronica is TWICE as smart as the FBI. Heh.

Also, Lucy. Fucking. Lawless. How sweet was that.
