Saturday night [livejournal.com profile] cassandraclaire, [livejournal.com profile] tromboneborges and I went to see Kiss Kiss Bang Bang which I highly recommend. Is there really anyone better than Robert Downey, Jr? I'm thinking no. This is like, movie month, which is pretty awesome. I feel like I didn't see enough movies last year.

Yesterday I should have been doing tons of work, but I hate the period I'm in right now, so I was easily distracted by writing up a little fic that refused to leave my head. It's at beta right now and will show up at [livejournal.com profile] erotic_elves before you know it.

And last night I watched the finale of My Fair Brady. Good riddance, I say, to an entirely uninteresting reality show featuring the romance of Adrienne Curry (winner of the first season of America's Next Top Model) and Christopher Knight (Peter from the Brady Bunch) which started when they met on The Surreal Life. (Not unlike that Flavor Flav/Bridgette Neilsen show a year or so ago, except a bit more genuine.) It became briefly intriguing when Adrienne refused to buy a house with Chris unless she had a ring on her finger, while he acted like the same stubborn controlling prick he's been all season, but ended safely back in banality when, backed into a corner and facing removal of model pussy, he managed to make a proposal into just another moment to act like a controlling prick.

I also hate VH1 because there was no new Breaking Bonaduce or Best Week Ever last week. I mean, these are cheap reality shows and really don't need to be spaced out for sweeps. Sure, BB can be suspended for that hour finale of My Fair Brady, but why no Best Week Ever? WHY?

In other news, a lot gets said in lame anon memes about people posting about stuff that you might not care about (see above) but I find it sort of fun to watch a friend dive into a new fandom with all that newbie glee. I mean, that's half of why we're all here, right?

Although I do agree that Chris is a controlling prick, I also think Adrienne was being a bit of a prick giving that "Marry me or I walk" ultimatum. I don't know how long they'd been together at that point, but either way, I find those ultimatums just so unfair. I also find it a bit much because she's only 22. Like, calm down, wait until this relationship has lasted a couple years and you're sure YOU want to be tied to it forever before you start acting like it's nothing without a proposal. Anyway, I think they broke up after the show. Which is sad, because I really did like them together in spite of these things.

I liked them together too but it makes more sense for them to split up than for them to get married. I agree somewhat about her ultimatum, except that she was singing that tune for the entire show, and he kept going back and forth about whether he wanted her to move out. He'd be like, you should move out, you should be independent, but if she did something, he'd get angry about it and sabotage her. Granted, she's only 22, and everything was moving fast, but he was the one who wanted them to buy a house together, and I think she was right; I think he wanted to keep her around without making a really big committment to her. I was happy that she stood up for what she wanted even if it was silly because so many girls don't do that, and end up in situations they aren't happy with for the sake of staying with the guy, and he was always so controlling that I was pretty surprised that she did it. I guess for that reason, and because she was consistent but he was so inconsistent, I'm a little bit more on her side than his.

No, there is nobody better than Robert Downey, Jr. He's so talented. I'll have to check out that movie.

I tried getting through an episode of My Fair Brady, but they both just irritated me so much, I had to turn off the television. He was being a controlling prick and she just complained all the time.

Hugs,
Elia
